(Minghui.org) Ms. Tang Lijuan filed a criminal complaint against China's former dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Tang and her family suffered tremendously in the persecution, and her son died from torture. She mailed the paperwork to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court in Beijing on June 11, 2015.

Ms. Tang Lijuan, 65, a former college professor in Heilongjiang Province, is currently living in San Francisco. Before leaving China, she was illegally detained a number of times and was suspended from work with no income. She was also sentenced to imprisonment and tortured.

The following is an excerpt from her legal complaint.

My Son Died at Age 27

“My son was twice sent to forced labor camp from 1999 and 2001, and he went through four different labor camps, where he suffered all kinds of torture. He was shocked with electric batons; his head was smashed against a wall and he was force-fed alcohol and unknown drugs; he was not allowed to use the toilet and deprived of sleep. As a result, his internal organs were severely damaged.

“When I went to visit him in Huludao Forced Labor Camp, I saw my son handcuffed to a hard bed board. A tube was inserted into his stomach for force-feeding and urinary catheter was also inserted into his body as he was too weak to urinate. It was freezing cold in the winter of Northeast China, but my son was still wearing thin clothes. My heart was broken at the miserable sight of my son.

“He was in critical condition, but the forced labor camp still refused to release him. Many days later, after the camp extorted 5000 yuan from us, my son was finally allowed to come home. However, he passed away not long after, on December 25, 2004. He was only 27. My husband could not take the pain any more and divorced me.

Illegally Detention and Imprisonment

“After my son passed away, I bought a printer and started to make informational materials about Falun Gong and the persecution.

“On the evening of April 26, 2008, seven or eight people from Shenzhen “610 Office” broke into my apartment. They took away all my personal belongs and nearly 40,000 yuan in cash, and then took me to Futian District Detention Center. I was eventually sentenced to imprisonment and detained in Guangdong Women's Prion for three and a half years.

Brutal Treatment in Prison

“I was subjected to all kinds of cruel treatment in prison, including sleep deprivation and restricted toilet use. I was given very little to eat and not allowed to wash myself. Every day, I was verbally abused and beaten by inmates under the instigation of police guards.

“As I refused to renounce Falun Gong, I was locked in solitary confinement. Inmates were sent to beat me. They pulled my hair and my ears, punched me in the head and berated me with foul language. I was not allowed to sleep. When I couldn't keep my eyes open, they stabbed my legs with sharp pens, until my pants and bloody flesh stuck together. I was also forced to sit on a specially-made small stool for long periods of time. My buttocks festered as a result. I was not allowed to wash myself for nearly a month at times, and was forced to stand still for long hours. My weight dropped quickly from over 70 kg (155 lbs) to less than 50 kg (110 lbs). I was on the edge of collapse.

“Once I was not allowed to use the toilet for 24 hours and I wet my pants. The inmates said, 'Your son is already dead. If you refuse to transform (renounce Falun Gong), you will die too.'

“When I was released, I had nowhere to go. My family was completely destroyed and I was homeless.

“All of our suffering was the result of the persecution directives issued by Jiang Zemin, such as 'to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.' I request that Jiang Zemin be investigated his criminal responsibility.”

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
