(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qin Li was illegally tried on June 15, 2015, at the Jiangbei District Court in Chongqing. Her parents were the only people allowed inside the courtroom to witness her trial.

The Trial

Before the trial began, only Ms. Qin's parents were allowed to sit inside the courtroom. When her daughter complained about it, the police threatened to arrest her.

The prosecutor from the Jiangbei District Procuratorate charged Ms. Qin with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” (a pretext commonly used by the Chinese Communist Party to frame and sentence Falun Gong practitioners), and told the judge to sentence her to 3-5 years of imprisonment. He accused her of carrying a VCD that contained information about Falun Gong and the persecution, and giving her cousin paper currency with Falun Gong messages written on them.

Ms. Qin's lawyer gave a not guilty plea for his client, and requested that the VCD be played inside the courtroom to exam the evidence of so-called “undermining law enforcement” that the prosecutor claimed. His request, however, was rejected.

When the lawyer pointed out that Falun Gong was never classified as a cult according to the Chinese constitution, the judge and the prosecutor kept quiet.

The lawyer also handed the judge a complaint letter, accusing officer Zhang Hongbo and neighborhood committee staff Fu Du of illegally detaining Ms. Qin in the brainwashing center for 24 days.

Arrested at the Railroad Station

Ms. Qin was arrested on her way home from a funeral on November 12, 2015. Staff of the Fengdu Railroad Station detained her only because she practices Falun Gong. They reported her to her neighborhood committee and local police station. The police took Ms. Qin directly to the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Center.

After being held in the brainwashing center for 24 days, Ms. Qin was transferred to the Fusheng Detention Center in Jiangbei District, Chongqing.
