(Minghui.org) Mr. Shi Chengbin, 50, from Jilin City filed a lawsuit recently with the Supreme People's Procuratorate in China against former dictator Jiang Zemin for the enormous mental and physical suffering he has experienced in the last 16 years.

Mr. Shi was unlawfully arrested and detained many times, and brutally beaten by police for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing.

While detained in Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai in Jilin, team leader Liu and another officer shocked him with two high-voltage electric batons until his face was severely scorched, simply because he refused to give up his faith in Falun Gong. The severity of his injuries stunned the inmates when he was taken back to his cell.

Persecution Timeline

On May 10, 2002, police broke into his home, arrested him, and took him away without a warrant.

He was later sentenced to six years and detained in the notorious Tiebei Prison in Changchun, Jilin Province.

While in prison, Mr. Shi was subjected to various tortures, including being deprived of sleep, hung in the air by his arms, pierced with needles, held in solitary confinement, punched and kicked, placed in freezing conditions, and forced to stand for long periods of time.

His 81-year-old father traveled to the prison to visit him on December 15, 2005, only to find Mr. Shi handcuffed to a prison hospital bed, with both feet in splints. Several inmates stood at his side to monitor him.

Mr. Shi was released on May 10, 2008, but he and his family continued to suffer frequent police harassment and threats.

On December 24, 2009 while he was visiting his elderly parents, police broke into his parents' home and tried to arrest him. He managed to get away and has been living a homeless life since then.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
