(Minghui.org) Mr. You Yunsheng has filed a lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for torture, false imprisonment, and financial loss he endured under the brutal nationwide suppression of Falun Gong ordered by Jiang.

Mr. You was severely tortured while in state custody and had to be hospitalized 12 times during his six years in prison and four separate detentions.

His wife Ms. Li Suzhen has been arrested twice and sentenced to four years. Police ransacked their home multiple times, seizing personal belongings, a bankbook, and cash.

Mr. You submitted his criminal complaint to the Supreme People's Procuratorate in Beijing on May 20, 2015.

Assaulted by Police

Mr. You was recently arrested for talking to a bus driver about the persecution of Falun Gong on March 30, 2015. He was punched in the face six to seven times and fell critically ill. He was eventually released, as the detention center refused to accept him due to his health.

His wife was arrested the same day and remains in Weifang Detention Center.

Imprisoned and Brutally Tortured for His Belief

Police arrested Mr. You, close to 70 years of age, on June 26, 2008 “to maintain security for the Games” in the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics.

Mr. You was confined to a metal chair for seven straight days, during which time he was beaten, shocked with electric batons, and deprived of sleep. He was sentenced to six years under false charges alleging that 100 blank CDs found at his home contained “reactionary content.”

He had four broken ribs and a blood pressure of 190 when admitted to the prison. Nevertheless, he was brutalized by over ten prisoners under guards' orders, in an attempt to force him to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. They did not stop the torture until Mr. You lost consciousness.

Mr. You has since developed high blood pressure and severe heart problems. He was critically ill and hospitalized 12 times during his six-year imprisonment.

Personal Account of Abuse, Deprivation of Property

Below, Mr. You recalls how he was physically abused during multiple encounters with police:

I was arrested in 2004 after a CD containing information about the persecution was found on my bike. A person who claimed to be the chief of the Dongying District 610 Office interrogated me by torture, threats, and verbal abuse.

In 2005, I was arrested by officers from Shengli Oilfield Police Department, who also ransacked my home and seized two computers (one of which was my son's) and Falun Gong books and informational materials. Chief Zhang struck my face repeatedly, causing me to need medical treatment.

My home was again ransacked when I was arrested June 2008. Chief Guo of the Shouguang Domestic Security Division seized a laptop, a printer, an electric bike, a real estate registration, a 5,000 yuan bankbook, and 2,000 yuan in cash.

During my hospitalization in May 2013, the head of No. 4 Ward sent inmate Ma Yanfeng to my room every day to intimidate and verbally abuse me. This was because I refused to admit that I was a criminal, and refused to wear a prison uniform. This went on for four months.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
