Five Practitioners Detained for Seven Months in Shuangyashan City

(Minghui.org) Five Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally detained at the Shuangyashan City Detention Center for more than seven months.

Their families have gone to the authorities several times to get them released, but their queries were answered with a variety of excuses. The practitioners' cases were again submitted to the Jianshan District Court in Shuangyashan City on May 11, 2015. The court returned all the cases back to the Jianshan Police Department, because one case needed a judicial evaluation.

The detained practitioners include Ms. Wang Yuzhi, Ms. Guo Hongxia, Ms. Zhang Liyan, Ms. Shan Jinli, and her son Mr. Wang Dongsheng.

Families Suffer

Ms. Zhang developed tuberculosis and vomited blood while in detention. Her mother, who is in her seventies, longs for her release every day.

Ms. Wang’s parents are in their eighties. Her father was taken to a hospital after learning that she had been arrested.

Ms. Guo took very good care of her family. Her 90-year-old mother-in-law and one-year-old granddaughter are now alone at home with no one to care for them.

15 Practitioners Arrested

The five detained Falun Gong practitioners and ten other practitioners were arrested between October 14 and 17, 2014, by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Shuangyashan City Police Department, the Jianshan Police Department, and several local police stations.

Before being arrested, the practitioners had been monitored, followed, and their telephone conversations recorded for over a month. The police ransacked their homes and the value of the items confiscated were valued at over one million yuan.

Several other practitioners were being harassed, and some had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
