(Minghui.org) During Ms. Song Degui's unlawful imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong, her mentally ill daughter was left without a guardian. She was left to her own devices by the government, and died as a result.

The 80-year-old mother recently filed a lawsuit against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing the tragic death of her daughter over a decade ago.

Ms. Song mailed her complaint to the Supreme People's Procuratorate on May 28, 2015.

Ms. Song's home was ransacked after she petitioned the central government in Beijing and protested the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested twice and held in a brainwashing center each time.

Her mentally disabled daughter, who was left to fend for herself, eventually wandered away from home.

Ms. Song Degui brought up her daughter's condition and expressed extreme concern for her daughter's safety many times. But the head of the brainwashing center kept lying to her.

“Your daughter is being taken care of by the government,” he said. “They are taking good care of your daughter.”

In reality, her daughter was left alone. She did not know where her mother was and when her mother would come back, finally dying alone in anxiety and terror.

Someone discovered her death three days later. Three months later, when the brainwashing center broke the news to Ms. Song, they stated that they tried to revive her daughter but were unsuccessful.

In May of 2004, the Supreme People's Procuratorate issued a notice regarding a “nationwide campaign to investigate the use of authority in human rights violation crimes.” Ms. Song handed in her lawsuit back then, but never heard anything from it.

She was sentenced again to three and a half years in prison for her practice of Falun Dafa in 2009.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
