Confidence and Belief in Master and the Fa

(Minghui.org) I was inspired after reading the article “Falun Dafa Practitioners in the Eyes of An Enlightened Being.”

Many of us have practiced Falun Dafa for more than ten years. All of us believe in Master and the Fa, but the degrees of our belief may be different. Some practitioners believe with doubts and reservations. This may be reflected as a lack of confidence amidst tribulations.

For example, some practitioners doubt if they can overcome their tribulations. Some wonder if they will be able to complete the work they need to do on projects that expose the persecution of Falun Gong.

For those enduring the symptoms of illness, some doubt if they can make it through and recover. They may think that going to the hospital is more practical. Some make excuses for themselves: "I haven't cultivated well according to the standards of the Fa. Therefore, it is better to treat my illness first, then I will cultivate well after it is cured and I won't go to the hospital the next time."

As a result, as I understand it, they follow the old force arrangements and their cultivation takes a detour.

Master said,

“When disciples have ample righteous thoughts, Master has the power to turn back the tide.” (“The Master-Disciple Bond” from Hong Yin Volume II)

Steadfast belief in Master and the Fa is a prerequisite for righteous thoughts. If one's righteous thoughts are not strong enough, the old forces will take advantage of the loophole and the practitioner will end up following the path that they arranged, rather than the path that Master arranged.

More difficulties and tribulations will likely then arise. Illness karma will develop like the symptoms of ordinary illness, making it more difficult for them to enlighten to.

By this time, the practitioner believes that he did the right thing by going to the hospital, and the illness progresses like he expected. Thus he falls into a vicious cycle and slides down, following the path arranged by the old forces.

I believe that practitioners must follow Master Li's teachings and Dafa's requirements in validating Dafa. This reflects Master's compassion and Dafa's mighty power.

Belief in Master and Dafa also includes believing in the mighty power that results from validating Dafa. The universe was created by Dafa. Doing things according to Dafa means following one's understanding of the truth and the laws of the universe.

In my cultivation, I know I have been guilty of thinking like the others I describe above on occasion. After reading the article, I looked inside myself for shortcomings. Belief in Master and Dafa is not something we can only pay lip service to. We must look inward and strive to truly eliminate our shortcomings. We must believe in Master and the principles of Dafa. We must be confident in our cultivation as we walk this final leg of our journey.
