Additional Persecution News from China – May 18, 2015 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 8 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhao Shuanghui and Ms. Li Li Detained

Ms. Zhao Shuanghui and Ms. Li Li were arrested on the afternoon of May 5, 2015. They are detained at the Pudong Detention Center.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Tian Yongjian Persecuted

Mr. Tian Yongjian has been held at the Shandong Province Prison for six years. His wife visited him on May 5, 2015, and noticed that Mr. Tian was pale and emaciated. Because of his deteriorating physical condition, Mr. Tian applied for medical parole several times but was refused by deputy director Chen Yan of the No. 11 Ward.

3. [Wusu City, Xinjiang Province] Six Practitioners Detained

Several practitioners were arrested around March 21, 2015. Six of them are detained at the Wusu City Detention Center: Mr. Zhang Mengsheng, in his 60s; Mr. Feng Zhengjian, 60s; Mr. Li Hongfu, 70s; Ms. Xiao Naixiang, 60s; Ms. Wang Jinzhu, 60s; and Ms. Wang Yulan, 60s.

4. [Kuitun City, Xinjiang Province] Ms. Bu Haiyan and Mr. Li Xinren Detained

Ms. Bu Haiyan and her husband Mr. Li Xinren were arrested around March 10, 2015. They are currently detained at the Kuitun City Detention Center.

Ms. Bu was first held at the Nongqishiken District Detention Center. She suffered a splintered patellar fracture around April 13, 2015, and was taken to the Kuitun Police Department Hospital for surgery. She was then taken to the Kuitun City Detention Center on April 30, 2015.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Li Yan and Ms. Qi Yuling Arrested

Ms. Li Yan and Ms. Qi Yuling were arrested at Ms. Li's home by officers from the Guangming Police Station in Shunyi District on May 10, 2015. The police ransacked her home. Ms. Li is detained at the Shunyi Detention Center.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Zhendong's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Chen Zhendong, 78, was arrested by officers from the local police station on May 2, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. His whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Wenguo Sentenced

Ms. Wang Wenguo was tried by the Baodi District Court on February 6, 2015, and sentenced to a four-year prison term in early May 2015. She is detained at the Tianjin Women's Prison.

8. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yun Fuqi Detained

Ms. Yun Fuqi was arrested in Yichun City on May 5, 2015. She was taken to the Chaoyang Police Station but released that evening.

9. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Yifeng Detained

Ms. Cai Yifeng was arrested by officers from the Zundao Town Police Station on May 6, 2015, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She was beaten and a blood sample was forcibly taken from her. She was later detained at the Shifang Detention Center in Deyang City. Ms. Cai held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She was released on May 11, 2015.

10. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Jiang Xiuying Detained

Ms. Jiang Xiuying was arrested and taken to the Zhongnan Police Station by plainclothes officers on the afternoon of May 13, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home. She was taken to the Erzhigou Detention Center for a 15-day detention.

11. [Qidong County, Hunan Province] Ms. Jiang Shunxiu and Ms. Tan Meiying Arrested

Ms. Jiang Shunxiu, 62, and Ms. Tan Meiying, 68, were recently arrested by local officers for hanging up informational banners about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Tan was released but Ms. Jiang is still detained at the local police station.

12. [Xinmin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Yingxian Detained

Mr. Wang Yingxian is detained at the Xinmin City Detention Center.

13.[Changsha, Hunan Province] Mr. Wei Guimei Tortured at Wangling Prison

Mr. Wei Guimei was sentenced to three-and-a-half years this March, following his arrest in October 2014 for distributing materials that exposed the persecution of Falun Gong. One month later he was transferred to Wangling Prison in You County.

The authorities did not inform Mr. Wei's family of his trial or his prison transfer. It took his loved ones more than one month to finally find where he was imprisoned. When they visited him in May, they noticed that he appeared very weak and had to be supported by two people.

Mr. Wei, 64 years old, from Ninxiang County, is a retired worker from the No. 7 Construction Company in Huaihua City. Simply for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he has been arrested and detained many times.

14. [Laiyang, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Transferred to Jinan Prison

Following their illegal sentencing last December, six Falun Gong practitioners from Laiyang were recently transferred to Jinan Prison. Mr. An Libo, Lu Weihao and Huang Jianjun will each serve three years and three months, while Mr. Zhang Baoren, Mr. Li Songshan and his son Li Lulin will each serve three years.

15. [Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ma Xiaohua Facing Illegal Trial

Ms. Ma Xiaohua from Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province was arrested by police in Nanling County, Anhui Province on July 14, 2014. She has been held for more than ten months. The Nanling Court has scheduled a trial against her on June 17, 2015.
