(Minghui.org) The Xinshi District Court in Urumqi City, Xinjiang, China, put three Falun Gong practitioners on trial on April 10, 2015.

One of the defendants, Ms. Pan Xiuhua hired an attorney, Wang Quanzhang, to defend them. He argued that the practitioners were innocent and that the persecution of Falun Gong was illegal.

Using False Evidence

The prosecutor claimed that Ms. Pan, Mr. Wang Shilian, and a practitioner named Kong Quige, who passed away in October 2014, purchased printing paper in January and April 2014 and produced Falun Gong informational materials in a residential bungalow.

The case against the practitioners was full of holes.

First, the bungalow the judges referred to was, in fact, demolished many years ago.

More tellingly, Ms. Pan said that she had never met or talked to Mr. Wang Shilian or the third practitioner on trial, Ms. Cui Demei, before their appearance in court.

Attorney Wang demanded that the three practitioners be called to the bench, but the judges turned down his request and claimed that “the three people have no relationship with each other.” Which begs the question, "Why did the judges accept evidence that they were 'working together?'"

The attorney questioned the Supreme Court and Supreme Procuratorate's explanation of Clause 300 of the Criminal Law, saying it was a sabotage of the legal system. That prompted chief judge Huang Yongqi to have the lawyer removed from the courtroom, but he later called him back.

The judge told Attorney Wang, "Please don't talk about things that are out of my control."

The trial lasted an entire day. The outcome is not yet known.
