(Minghui.org) Many local practitioners thought that Ms. Ying was a diligent Falun Gong practitioner, because they saw that she worked hard to do the three things well.

I still remember a conversation we had two years ago. She said, “We must cultivate ourselves with genuine effort.” Shortly after that, she came to see me and told me that her vision had become blurred and that she could not see to read the Dafa books anymore. She began to sob: “What can I do?”

I comforted her and encouraged her to look inward to find her hidden attachments. I was confident that she could find them and eliminate them.

As a veteran practitioner, her understanding of the Fa was quite good. We shared our thoughts on several Fa principles and discovered that we had similar understandings on most things. So I was puzzled as to why her health was so poor and felt that she must have some loopholes in her cultivation. Before she left, I said to her, “You should ask Master for help. I believe you will overcome this tribulation.”

The next time I went to her house, she was completely blind. Unable to read Dafa books, she listened to Master’s lectures instead. Her husband, also a practitioner, took care of her. She seemed in good spirits as we spoke.

Before I left, she said, “I'm OK. I will get better soon.” But I was not so sure. What could have caused her to go blind in the first place? My gut feeling told me that she was in serious danger from the old forces wanting to take her life.

A few days later, a practitioner told me that Ms. Ying had been hospitalized. When I went to see her at the hospital, she began to cry: “What did I do wrong?”

In addition to blindness, she also suffered from a number of other ailments. All I could do was encourage her to remain steadfast and keep her faith in Dafa. She said, “I believe in Master. Master will not abandon me.”

I saw Ms. Ying’s husband a few weeks later. He told me that she had passed away. “Do you know why?” I asked. He shook his head and didn't say anything.

Six months later, he told me that his wife had left several Dafa books at their son's place and asked if I could help pass them on to others that might need them. I agreed.

I was surprised when he gave them to me. There were more than a dozen books in a single plastic shopping bag. I could tell that they had been stored in a damp place and under a heavy weight for a long time. Some of them were damaged and had mildew on them. I asked him, “How could this have happened?”

He said, “When the persecution began in 1999, Ying was scared that the police might find them, so she hid the books in the basement. Later she thought that it was still unsafe, so she took them to our son’s place. He was scared, too, and hid them in the storage shed. We completely forgot about them for a long time. Recently, my son found the books while clearing out his storage.”

I thought to myself, “Ying might have forgotten about them, but the old forces didn't. That may have been an excuse to take her life.”

Dafa books are not ordinary books--they are the most precious books in the universe. Practitioners' attitude toward them is of paramount importance.

It is my understanding that when Ms. Ying casually threw the books in a shopping bag and stored them away, she failed to treat them properly and did not respect them like a practitioner should.
