(Minghui.org) A disabled 72-year-old man was arrested twice in ten days, both times while taking his grandson to school. He is now being detained.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Erli is from Lengshuijiang City, Hunan Province. He is retired and formerly worked at the Lengshuijiang Steel Plant. He has only three fingers on his left hand.
The first arrest was on January 12, 2015. Mr. Liu was interrogated at the police department, and taken to the Chinese Medicine Hospital for an examination. He was released a few hours later due to his physical condition.
The second arrest was on January 22, 2015, and Mr. Liu is now being held at the Lengshuijiang City Detention Center.
Mr. Liu was arrested both times by officers from the Lengshuijiang City 610 Office, an agency created to persecute Falun Gong with extrajudicial powers, and the Lengshuijiang City Domestic Security Division.
Mr. Liu has been arrested over 20 times for his belief in Falun Gong, detained four times at a forced labor camp, and repeatedly put under surveillance at home.
Mr. Liu was beaten daily at the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha, Hunan Province. He was emaciated and unrecognizable when he was released in June 2010.
Several vehicles were parked at the intersection of Lengshuijiang Steel Plant on the morning of March 6, 2012. The captain of the Lengshuijiang Domestic Security Division spotted Mr. Liu, arrested him and took him to the domestic security division. He failed the physical exam that he was given and was released around 4 p.m. that afternoon.
The director of the 610 Office, and officers from the Lengshuijiang Domestic Security Division and the Lengshuijiang Police Station arrested over 10 people on August 29, 2012. Mr. Liu was arrested at home, taken to the Procuratorate, and released after 12 p.m.
Mr. Liu was arrested five times in 2013. Twice in December, he was arrested at home and taken to the Procuratorate. He was also taken to the court on December 26. Yang Haizhou, from Lengshuijiang State Security Bureau, produced a lot of “evidence” (usually this refers to fliers about the persecution of Falun Gong), and he told Mr. Liu to read it. He said he planned to put Mr. Liu on trial.
Mr. Liu's youngest son was harassed at his home for over an hour on January 16, 2014 by officials from the 610 Office, the State Security Bureau, the Procuratorate, the court and his previous work unit.
Four days before the Chinese New Year, the most important holiday for the Chinese people, on January 26, 2014, Mr. Liu was arrested by the 610 Office and the court. He refused to sign a court summons, indictment and a document stating that he would live under surveillance. He was released about an hour later. He was interrogated in court on February 28, 2014.
