(Minghui.org) I am an older veteran Falun Gong practitioner who stepped on the cultivation path in 1995. I would like to share with fellow practitioners some of my experiences during the past 20 years.

Paraded Through the Streets

I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong after the onset of the persecution in 1999. Twenty other practitioners and I were arrested and taken back to our hometown. We were not only criticized during a conference by officials from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but also paraded through the streets.

I was imprisoned in the local detention center for four-and-a-half months, and interrogated daily, but I refused to cooperate. I was later interrogated once every several days, but I only talked about Falun Gong. So the police ordered my superior to talk to me, but, again, I only talked about the practice.

I was ordered to take care of a prisoner who had been sentenced to death. She was confined to a bed, with her arms chained. I fed her and washed her face and feet. I thought of what Master wrote:

“A Great Enlightened One fears no hardshipHaving forged an adamantine willFree of attachment to living or dyingHe walks the path of Fa-rectificationconfident and poised.”(“Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions,” from Hong Yin Vol. II)

The other detainees were impressed with my behavior, and often gave me the thumbs up. They also said, “Falun Dafa is good,” and some said that they would definitely learn Falun Gong after their release.

Different Approaches for Different People

It is our mission to clarify the truth about the practice and save sentient beings. We must do well!

Master said:

"So for our Dafa disciples, clarifying the facts in actuality far transcends your personal cultivation. Your personal cultivation only makes for the fulfillment of one being, yet the role that you serve in saving sentient beings makes for the fulfillment of a great multitude of Main-Body beings, boundless numbers of beings, and even greater cosmic bodies--that's how big what you are shouldering is!" (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference”)

I consider my audience when I talk about Falun Gong. For example, I usually wish young people a good future, while I talk to older people about their health, safety, longevity, family harmony, and so on. When I come across children, I tell stories that teach traditional values.

Master said,

“While working, your tone of voice, your kindheartedness, and your reasoning can change a person’s heart.” (“Clearheadedness,” from Essentials for Further Advancement)

An Accident Becomes an Opportunity

I was hit by a car on June 9, 2014. Two young women jumped out and helped me into the car. I had a large bump on the back of my head, and they said that they would take me to the hospital. I said, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner—I don't need to go to the hospital!”

They would not take no for an answer, so I said, “There could be a reason why this happened. It might be so I can tell you about Falun Dafa. Please listen to me.”

I explained the basic truths about Falun Gong, told them about the crimes committed by the CCP, and advised them to quit the CCP and its affiliates. The driver shouted and shook her fist in agreement, “I am determined to quit the CCP, the Youth League, and the Young Pioneers!”

They were still worried about me and wanted to take me home. I told them not to worry and strode away, obviously unhurt. The driver was moved to tears.

Refusing to Cooperate

About six people from the 610 Office pushed me into a car on July 1, 2014. I was taken to the traffic police division, interrogated for two hours, and then ordered to sign a summons notice. I said, “You demand that I sign the notice after you arrested me and interrogated me for two hours? You knowingly broke the law!”

I refused to sign it or any other documents. “I don't belong here,” I said. “Take me home right now!”

They seemed to agree, but once we were in the car, they said they were taking me to a brainwashing center. I told them, “If you dare take me to a brainwashing center, you will have to take full responsibility!” They turned around and took me home.
