(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Wenxiu (杨文秀), a 61-year-old retiree from Baiyin City, Gansu Province, was arrested with three friends at a rental house last September. They were making materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong when the police broke in and confiscated their printers and computers.

The Baiyin Procuratorate recently indicted Ms. Yang and transferred her case to the Baiyin District Court. She is now awaiting trail at Baiyin District Detention Center.

Ms. Yang's Recent Arrest

The arrest of Ms. Yang and her friends on September 19, 2014, was directed by the Domestic Security Division with the Baiyin District Police Department. A number of police officers and community office staff were involved. The police got the key to the rental house from three other practitioners they had arrested earlier that day.

Ms. Yang was taken to the Silonglu Police Station for interrogation. She was later transferred to the Baiyin District Detention Center.

Her three friends--Ms. Liao Anan (廖安安), Mr. Chen Zhongxuan (陈仲轩), and Ms. Li Qialian (李巧莲)--also recently had their arrests approved by the Procuratorate. It is not clear where they are being held.

Two Previous Arrests

Ms. Yang, who used to work for the Baiyin Power Company, was arrested in 2002 for the first time and held in a detention center.

She was arrested again on June 22, 2006, for distributing literature to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong. She was tortured for five hours during the interrogation. After being held in the Baiyin District Detention Center for 20 days, Ms. Yang was detained in the Gansu Women's Labor Camp for a year and a half.

In the labor camp, the guards and inmates forced Ms. Yang to take drugs, which kept her from thinking straight. Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, Ms. Yang was forbidden from meeting with her family, making phone calls, or using the washroom. An inmate sometimes held her arms and pushed her head into the toilet bowl. The guards even forced her to strip off all of her clothes in front of over a hundred people.

Ms. Yang was also forced to finish her quota every day in the labor camp – eight pairs of shoe soles. If not, the other inmates would beat her. In addition, her family became more and more distant when the authorities lied to them about her.
