(Minghui.org) “More than a dozen police officers tricked me into opening my door and barged into my house at 3:00 A.M. on July 20, 1999. They arrested me in front of my young daughter, my wife, and my parents.

I was soon sentenced to 4 years for practicing Falun Gong. My little girl, then a second-grader, was endlessly bullied at school for having a 'criminal' father. Even her school principal threatened her with expulsion if she didn't renounce Falun Gong.

While in prison, I was shocked with electric batons for days on end. Every night when the sun set, I didn't know if I'd be able to see it rise the next day. I lived in fear and was highly stressed. More than half of my hair turned gray in about three weeks.”

Above is an excerpt from Mr. Liu Zesheng's lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. Mr. Liu holds the former Chinese dictator responsible for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing irreparable damage to him and his family.

He has sent his complaints to the Supreme Procuratorate and the Supreme Court on August 27, 2015.

Whole Family Benefited from Falun Gong

Mr. Liu, a former marketing manager of a real estate company in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province began to practice Falun Gong in 1994, and became illness-free. His daughter, wife, parents and parents-in-law also followed suit. Their whole family enjoyed recovery from once-persistent diseases, and they also became a more harmonious family.

Arrested on the First Day of Persecution

Mr. Liu was arrested and home ransacked on July 20, 1999, the day when the Chinese Communist regime began its persecution of Falun Gong. His personal belongings, Falun Gong books and materials were all confiscated.

His father (who worked in the same company as him) was fired and taken away from home when he was with his 7-year-old granddaughter. The young girl was so traumatized that she dared not leave her mother or go to school.

Sentenced to 4 Years

Mr. Liu was sentenced to four years in prison and held in Cangzhou City No. 1 Detention Center for nearly a year before he was transferred to Jidong Prison. He was locked up alone in a small room for over 20 days, deprived of sleep continuously and shocked with electric batons repeatedly.

When he was let out of solitary confinement, he was forced to do hard labor for extended periods of time each day.

He was also forced to engage in a “thought-cleansing” exercise, where he had to write weekly statements about his thoughts on Falun Gong. The guards also arranged for several inmates to watch him around the clock to make sure he did not communicate with other inmates. This isolation took a heavy toll on Mr. Liu's mental well-being.

A Difficult Life after Release

Mr. Liu resumed work after being released in July 2003. However, he was only paid a reduced salary of 800 yuan a month and barred from employee benefits and shareholding. His freedom was restricted; he was no longer allowed to leave the city without approval from his company. He threatened by company management not to talk to coworkers about Falun Gong or the persecution. Placed under constant pressure at work, Mr. Liu decided to find work elsewhere to sustain the family.

His wife lost her job and feared for his safety. The local police officers and neighborhood officials harassed her many times and threatened to arrest her.

Mother-in-law Passes Away

While Mr. Liu was in prison, his father-in-law was held in the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, where torture caused him to develop high blood pressure. He would frequently faint.

His mother-in-law was often harassed and lived in fear. She fell ill and passed away without being able to see her husband one last time.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
