(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Suzhen (李素真) was arrested at Shouguang City Bus Terminal in Shandong Province on March 30, 2015. Since her arrest, the Weifang City 610 Office had pushed repeatedly to try her in court.

Since the Chinese communist regime launched its suppression campaign against Falun Gong in 1999, practitioners have been arbitrarily arrested, sentenced in show trials, and even tortured for refusing to give up their faith.

On July 13, the Shouguang City Court held a secret hearing without informing Ms. Li’s lawyer. No verdict was reached. Her lawyer later filed a complaint against the court with the higher-level Procuratorate.

The court held a second hearing on November 12. The prosecutor alleged that Ms. Li had distributed two Falun Gong flyers and one Shen Yun DVD in the Shouguang Bus Terminal, adding that she carried more flyers in her bag.

Ms. Li testified that the signature on one of the investigation record was not hers. The court also denied her lawyer's request to display evidence and call a witness for the defense.

In his concluding statement, Ms. Li's lawyer argued that her practicing Falun Gong and distributing flyers fall under her constitutional right to freedom of belief.

The judge adjourned the hearing without a verdict. Ms. Li, a retiree from Shengli Oil Field, is being held at the Weifang Detention Center.
