(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cai Suping, 53, from Suzhou City, went missing on August 26. It took her friends over a month to find out that she had been illegally arrested by the police. Ms. Cai was tried on September 7.

Ms. Cai's friends had asked her husband for her whereabouts, but her husband denied that she was missing. It was confirmed at a later date that her husband had been threatened by the police and did not dare acknowledge that his wife was arrested.

Course of Events

Ms. Cai had left town to escape arrest over a year ago and rented a place in Caixiang First Village, Suzhou City.

About a dozen plainclothes police officers from the Huxi Police Station, Suzhou Industrial District, and agents from the local 610 Office and Domestic Security Division broke into her apartment and arrested Ms. Cai on August 26, 2015.

She was put on trial by the Suzhou Industrial District Court on September 7, 2015. Ms. Cai's attorney was not allowed to attend the trial. There was no audience except her husband.

During the court proceedings the prosecutor did not provide any legal evidence, nor any reasonable explanation for Ms. Cai's arrest.

Ms. Cai repeatedly asked to see her attorney. The trial ended 10 minutes after it began.

2014 Arrest

Ms. Cai was arrested by officers from the Huxi Police Station on April 2, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police took her house key from her and used it to enter her home. They ransacked the home and confiscated a laptop computer, amulets, Falun Gong informational materials and books.

Ms. Cai was held at the Huxi Police Station, where she was deprived of sleep, water and food for two days. She was later transferred to the Huangdai No. 4 Detention Center and released on April 18, 2014.

The Yuan District Procuratorate intended to put Ms. Cai on trial. Therefore, she left home to avoid further persecution.
