(Minghui.org) More than 180,000 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), for launching the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
Some of these practitioners had been contacted by their local police because they filed a complaint. Many used the opportunity to talk about Falun Gong and the persecution.
Police Withdrew from the CCP After Discussing Lawsuits Against Jiang
Two policemen visited two elderly practitioners at home. One said, “We are here on official business. Don't go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.”
“We don't need to go to Beijing. Our criminal complaint against Jiang has been accepted by the Supreme People's Procuratorate,” replied one practitioner.
The policemen asked for more details about their complaint. The two practitioners explained why they sued Jiang Zemin and the police listened carefully. In the end, the practitioners said, “To keep safe, you ought to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.” Both policemen agreed and thanked him.
Police: “We Will Not Come Again!”
Several police visited a practitioner's home in August 2015. They asked if he had filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. The practitioner told them that he had already received notification of receipt from the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
“My husband was held in a forced labor camp just because he wants to follow the Falun Gong principles Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance,” said the practitioner's wife.
She continued, “It's all because of Jiang Zemin. The Chinese Constitution stipulates that citizens have freedom of belief. Jiang used his power to persecute innocent people. That's why both my daughter and I support my husband's lawsuit against Jiang.”
The practitioner also told the police that over 100,000 people have filed lawsuits against Jiang, and that Jiang would face trial in the international court.
Upon hearing that, police said, “We will not come again.”
Police: “We are just doing what we were told.”
Two policemen visited a practitioner's home early in September. They told him that they needed to confirm some information. The practitioner knew that it was because he had submitted a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, even though the local police hadn't known that he was a practitioner.
Police questioned him about why he practices Falun Gong and how his family felt about it. The practitioner used the opportunity to explain how he benefited from the practice and why Jiang must be brought to justice for persecuting practitioners like him.
Then, it was the practitioner's turn to question the police. He asked what was wrong with his lawsuit against Jiang. After all, it is his constitutional right to file criminal complaints against the former Chinese dictator.
“We are just doing what we were told, we will not come again,” replied the police.
Police: “I Will Not Worry About Your Issue Anymore!”
A practitioner received a phone call from a police officer. The policeman asked, “What's going on with you people?”
This practitioner knew the police was referring to the lawsuit he had filed against Jiang Zemin, so he replied, “I filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. My complaint has been received by the Supreme People's Procuratorate.”
He then explained to the police why he did it. In the end, the police said, “I will not worry over your issue anymore.”
Police Turned Around and Left When Asked to Give Their Names
Soon after a practitioner mailed his criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, a group of police showed up at his door.
“Are you so-and-so?” They asked.
“Yes, I am.” replied the practitioner calmly, “Who are you? What work unit do you work for? Can I take a picture of you with my cellphone?”
The group of police turned around and left without saying a word.
