Snapshot of Falun Gong Practitioners Whose Copies of Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin Were Received by Minghui on October 6, 2015
(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is on the rise.
The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of some of the practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on October 6, 2015.
These lawsuits are mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.
Summary of the Two Lawsuits
Both plaintiffs are elderly women who went through repeated detentions and torture to force them into giving up Falun Gong. Their families suffered mentally and incurred economic losses as well.
Ms. Zhao Yue (赵跃)
Profession: Lecturer at Guizhou UniversityHometown: not specifiedDate filed: August 19, 2015
Ms. Zhao was sentenced to forced labor twice and imprisoned for a total of five years. She was taken to brainwashing facilities twice, arrested six times and her place was ransacked on numerous occasions.
During her detention at a police station in Beijing in 2000, her arms were pulled behind her back and tied with two handcuffs. She described the pain as if her heart was pierced with a thousand swords. She was also shocked with high voltage electric batons.
While serving her prison sentence, she was not allowed to take baths or change her clothes. Guards restricted her use of the toilet and when she fell asleep, they pulled her while running in circles to stop her from sleeping. She was drenched with cold water and made to stand in the open wearing thin clothes during winter.
Ms. Zhao incurred economic losses as a result of the persecution. For 53 months, she did not receive any wages and she was forced to retire early.
Ms Ren Yueqiao (任月巧)
Profession: UnknownHometown: Laizhou City, Shandong ProvinceDate filed: August 19, 2015
Ms. Ren, 51, was taken to a brainwashing center many times, and sentenced to forced labor.
She was repeatedly arrested and tortured at the Dianzi brainwashing facility from Jan 2001 to September 2002. She was made to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and the guards extorted around 3,000 yuan from her.
She was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor and imprisoned at Zibo Women's Labor Camp on October 16, 2002. Guards forced her sit on a small stool for long hours and she had to perform manual labor for extended hours.
She was arrested again and subjected to a brainwashing class in Dianzi on August 8, 2008. She was sexually harassed and shocked with a high voltage electric current. She was sentenced to nine years of forced labor and transferred to Jinan Women's Prison at the beginning of October 2008.
Her husband could not take the pressure and divorced her. Her son worries for her safety all the time and was afraid to contact her when she left home to avoid further arrest.
When she was arrested, her father tried to find out her whereabouts. Her arrests took a toll on his health and he passed away three years after she was sentenced to prison.
Ms. Ren reached retirement age in May 2014. However she did not receive her pension for five months, which amounted to nearly 10,000 yuan.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
