(Minghui.org) Ms. Jiang Fengli appeared in court to be sentenced on December 4, 2014, in Fengcheng, Liaoning Province. Prior to that date, officer Zhang Pingxian instructed assistant officer Ma Jiye to give false statements to frame Ms. Jiang.
Ms. Jiang Fengli, a Falun Gong practitioner from Baoshan Town, Fengcheng City, gave a copy of the “scale the great firewall” (anti-firewall software to help people read uncensored news about the persecution of Falun Gong along with other overseas websites) to Zhang Pingxian, a plainclothes officer. Zhang called for back-up, and they arrested Ms. Jiang and took her to the Dandong Detention Center.
During the next several months, many people clarified the truth to Zhang and advised him not to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. However, he refused to listen and transferred Ms. Jiang's case to the Procuratorate.
In early November 2014, the Fengcheng Procuratorate returned the case to the police department due to insufficient evidence. Normally, when this is the case, the police would release the individual. However, Zhang instructed Ma Jiye and other assistant officers to make false statements to frame Ms. Jiang. Ma collaborated with the Procuratorate to make false statements, hoping to become a police official.
The “new" evidence was submitted, and, during the trial on December 4, Ms. Jiang's attorney asked Ma to deliver his testimony in court. Judge Pan Shuqin refused to allow it and hastily called for an adjournment. A few days later, Ms. Jiang was illegally sentenced to three years in prison.
