Additional Persecution News from China – September 19, 2014 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 11 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Zemin Arrested

Mr. Wang Zemin was arrested at work on September 18, 2014, by officers from the Lianyun Police Department and the Xugou Police Station. Officers from the Xugou Police Station went to Mr. Wang's home that afternoon and harassed his family, frightening his wife. His family went to the police station to ask for his release, but was ignored. Mr. Wang's whereabouts are unknown.

3. [Xuyong County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Manqun Arrested

Ms. Wang Manqun, 70, was reported to the police for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on September 16, 2014. She was subsequently arrested and her home ransacked. Her whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zhao Fengran and Another Practitioner Arrested

Ms. Zhao Fengran was arrested by officers from the Huada Police Station on September 17, 2014. Her home was ransacked, and a computer, a DVD burner, and a printer were confiscated. Another practitioner was also arrested.

5. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Yanchun Detained

Ms. Cao Yanchun from the Laishan District was reported to the police for talking about Falun Gong on her way home from work on September 16, 2014. She was detained for 15 days.

6. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhong Weiqin Facing Trial

Ms. Zhong Weiqin and other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Hexi Police Station for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on May 5, 2014. Deputy director Fu Xizhong and three other officers ransacked her home and confiscated DVDs, an MP3 player, and other items.

Ms. Zhong was held for 15 days, then transferred to the Benxi Detention Center. Her family was not informed about the transfer. They found out that the Procuratorate had issued a warrant for Ms. Zhong's arrest on June 15, 2014. Ms. Zhong is now facing a trial.

7. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Liuzhen Arrested and Her Home Ransacked

Ms. Wang Liuzhen was reported to the police for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on July 8, 2014. She was arrested by officers from the Zhongkai High Tech Development Zone Police Department, along with her husband, son, and daughter, who do not practice Falun Gong. They were interrogated and forced to sign documents.

Officers from the Domestic Security Division ransacked her home that afternoon and confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, photos of Falun Gong founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, informational materials about Falun Gong, several cell phones, and other items. Her family was released the same evening. Ms. Wang was held in the Meihu Detention Center in Xiajiao for ten days and then released.

8. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Shuli Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuli from Ji County was arrested by officers from the Shangcang Police Station on September 18, 2014, for explaining the facts about Falun Gong. Officers from the Ji Domestic Security Division and the Shangcang Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated three Falun Gong books and four informational brochures about Falun Gong.

9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Yukun Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

10. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Jinjun and Ms. Liu Yushu Detained

Mr. Zhang Jinjun and Ms. Liu Yushu from the Wendeng District were arrested by Li Benhai from the 610 Office of the Wendeng Domestic Security Division, along with over ten plainclothes officers. Two computers and a printer were confiscated from their homes. Mr. Zhang and Ms. Liu are being held in the Wendeng Detention Center.

11. [Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Mr. Zhang Yuliang and his wife Ms. Jiang Yuemei from Sidaocun and Ms. Jin Fengying from the Dongan District were arrested by officers from the Tielinghe Police Station for talking about Falun Gong on September 14, 2014. Their homes were ransacked. Their Falun Gong books, a laptop computer, a printer, a DVD player, and other items were confiscated. They are being held in the Mudanjiang No. 2 Detention Center.

12. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Lu Guifen Detained

Ms. Lu Guifen was arrested on February 25, 2014. She was tried in Laishui Court on July 4, 2014. The court returned her case to the Procuratorate on August 22, 2014, due to insufficient evidence. Laishui Police Department is fabricating more evidence against her. Mr. Lu is being held in the Baoding Detention Center.

14. [Dongkou County, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Qiju and Her Husband Harassed

Xiang Xuan, director of the Dongkou Law Enforcement Institute, had Ms. Liu Qiju's husband come to the 610 Office on September 17, 2014. He tried to pressure the husband into bringing his wife to the 610 Office to fill out and sign a form. He promised to cross off Ms. Liu's name from the contact list once the form was signed. Xiang called the husband again the next day to pressure him. Ms. Liu knew that it was a trick and did not cooperate.

15. [Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region] Warrant Issued for Ms. Kong Qiuge's Arrest

Ms. Kong Qiuge, about 70, was arrested at home on June 27, 2014. She started a hunger strike to protest the arrest. She is being held in the prison hospital and has become emaciated. The Procuratorate issued a warrant for her arrest in early August.

Ms. Kong has been detained multiple times since the persecution of Falun Gong began, including:

In October 1999, she was held for one day for practicing the Falun Gong exercises.In June 2000, she was held for a month for going to Beijing to seek justice for Falun Gong.In July 2000, she was sent to forced labor camp for 18 months for going to Beijing again to speak for Falun Gong.In November 2003, she was held for 45 days for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.In September 2009, she was held for 33 days for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.

She and her family were also often monitored and harassed. She had to leave home and move from place to place many times to avoid arrest.

16. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuchun Being Held in Liaocheng Detention Center

17. [Jiexi County, Guangdong Province] Arrest Warrant Issued for Mr. Liu Shaopeng

Mr. Liu Shaopeng, formerly physician-in-charge at the Ciyun Hospital affiliated withthe Jieyang Red Cross, was arrested on August 12, 2014, by agents from the Jieyang 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, Jiexi Police Department, and the Ronghua Police Station. Ms. Xia Xiaofen, Ms. Li Meihong, and Ms. Wu Shuqin were also arrested the same day. They were all taken to the Jieyang Detention Center.

Ms. Xia Xiaofen was released 37 days later, on the evening of September 17, 2014. Mr. Liu Shaopeng was issued an arrest warrant.

19. [Beijing] Mr. Li Hongshan Detained

Mr. Li Hongshan was arrested by officers from the Beizangcun Police Station in the Daxing District on August 25, 2014. He was taken to the Beijing Detention Center and transferred to the Daxing Detention Center 12 days later. He is holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
