(Minghui.org) Mr. Yuan Yang, 65, was arrested and violently assaulted by police officers on August 29, 2014, for talking about Falun Gong. A lump on his head and bruises on his chest were still visible ten days later.
Mr. Yuan is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xinhua County in Hunan Province. He was reported to the police for explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Youjia Town, Xinhua County.
While arresting him and trying to force a confession, officers Liu Chunshan and Luo whacked his head, face, and chest. That afternoon Mr. Yuan was taken to the Xinhua Police Department Domestic Security Division, where Liu Chengzhi and another officer beat him again. He ended up with a lump on his head and bruises on his chest.
Mr. Yuan was taken to the Xinhua Detention Center that evening. The center authorities refused to accept him initially, due to his injuries. However, the Xinhua Police Department exerted pressure, and the center eventually relented after having him get a CT scan at the county hospital.
The detention center authorities took Mr. Yuan to his relative's home four days later, and extorted 500 yuan from him. The lump on his head and bruises on his chest were still present a week later.
