(Minghui.org) I obtained the Fa in 1997. Since then, I have been holding myself to the standards of a true Falun Dafa practitioner. The various illnesses that I had before practicing, including heart disease, atherosclerosis, gastritis and gynecological diseases all disappeared.
Many people in our village used to practice before 1999, but after the persecution began many of them stopped. I felt very sad for them. When people asked me if I still practiced, I firmly answered: “Yes. Even if there was no one else in our village practicing, I'd still practice!” For years, I was actually the only one practicing in my area.
During the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 16th National Congress, I was out of town putting up truth clarification slogans in public places. I ended up being arrested by the police, and was sentenced to three years in prison.
After I was released, I was more determined to do the three things well. I knew I had to first break through my attachments to fear and losing face. Initially, I had to force myself to talk to people about Falun Gong, but then gradually it went much easier.
I was even able to clarify the facts to people from different perspectives. As a result, I managed to help most of our villagers quit the CCP. However, there are still some people saying bad words to me. Some are sarcastic. One person said: “The CCP gives me money, can Falun Gong give me money? If you can, I'd listen to you and give up my CCP membership.” Whenever I met with people who came to our village, I always clarified the facts to them. My husband was worried about me, and said: “You've been arrested once already. If they catch you again, you will receive an even heavier sentence.” I was undaunted by that possibility.
I once tried to clarify the facts to the party secretary of the village. He has been in that role for more than 30 years and was deeply loyal to the CCP. He knew that Falun Gong taught people to follow 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance', and he and his wife often praised me by saying: “Since you began practicing Falun Gong, we can see so many positive changes in you.” But as soon as I asked him to quit the CCP, he refused. He said: “Falun Gong is very good, but I don’t agree with you being against the Party.” He also knew that the CCP was bad, but still, he did not want to quit.
When I started talking to his family members about Falun Gong, he didn't try to stop me. One of his sons and his three daughters withdrew from the Party. I went to his home to talk to him further. I said: “Do you know why I have been supporting you in being the village party secretary? It is because you know Falun Dafa is good, and you have been protecting our practitioners.”
A few years ago, the village party secretary told me that his superiors often call him and ask about Falun Gong in the village. He always tells them that there aren’t any practitioners here. One time one of his superiors asked: “What about the family right across from you. Are any of them Falun Gong?” He answered: “That lady! No, she doesn't do anything. At her age, sometimes she exercises by stretching her arms and legs.” However, his superior knew that it was me who delivers truth clarification flyers to the households in our neighborhood as well as putting up posters.
I had to make sure that the village party secretary would never assist the CCP in committing crimes against practitioners, and often reminded him that as the village secretary he has a responsibility to protect the villagers. He always reassured me, but said: “You know Dafa is good, so practice at home. Please don't go all over the place to talk about it.” The more he treated me nicely, the more I wanted to save him.
One time, I saw him standing in the courtyard, so I went over to talk to him about quitting the Party. However, his reply was: “When you stop believing in your Teacher, that's when I'll stop believing in the CCP.” I thought to myself: “He is hopeless. He will surely be eliminated by heaven.”
After I came home, I began to look inward and thought: “Why does he always refuse to quit even though I have clarified the facts to him more than a few dozen times? Was it because I had some loopholes? I dug out many attachments, such as zealotry, a show-off mentality and thinking highly of myself. When I began to study the Fa with a calm mind, Teacher's Fa came to my eyes:
Compassion can harmonize Heaven and Earth, ushering in springRighteous thoughts can save the people in this world(“The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos” in Hong Yin Volume II)
I realized that either I was not compassionate enough, or my thoughts were not righteous enough. I began to send forth righteous thoughts to clean up my dimension, eliminating the dark minions, rotten demons, evil specters and every old force factor interfering with saving people. I then had this thought in my heart: I must save him.
Two days later, I went back to the secretary's home with a kind and compassionate heart. I talked to him about the importance of quitting the CCP. I hoped that he and his family could get through the final calamity. He kept saying: “Good, good,” and eventually said that he would quit the Party. I felt so relieved and happy for him to have made the right decision for his future.
