Several Recent Large-scale Arrests of Practitioners in Mudanjiang City; Three Attorneys Arrested

(Minghui.org) The Mudanjiang City 610 Office secretly orchestrated several large-scale illegal arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in August 2014. Secret agents had been following practitioners for a long time. Three attorneys were arrested for trying to visit their clients.

Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Mudanjiang Police Department and other police stations arrested several Falun Gong practitioners including Ms. Yang Xuezhen, Ms. Xiao Yanhua, and Ms. Jin Bo on August 12, 2014. They also arrested Mr. Dai Qihong, Ms. Zheng Liping, Ms. Chen Fengqing, Ms. Zhu Haiyu, and other practitioners over a period of days from August 7 to August 12, 2014.

Ms. Yang Xuezhen, an elderly practitioner, was arrested at home by two officers including Liu Jingkuan from the Yangming Police Departmentat on August 12, 2014. Liu has been repeatedly involved in the persecution and harassment of practitioners.

The local Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Jin Bo while she was at home around noon on August 12, 2014.

Li Xuejun of the Domestic Security Division at the Mudanjiang Police Department and about seven officers from the Yangming Police Department, including Yang Xiaofeng, arrested Ms. Xiao Yanhua at home. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, a small notebook, some disks, Falun Gong books, and other personal items. The family was not given a list of confiscated items. Ms. Xiao was taken to a detention center.

A dozen officers from the local Domestic Security Division including Qiaoping and the Dongan Police Department broke into an unidentified practitioner’s home. The practitioner was not at home and the police confiscated a laptop computer.

Mr. Dai, a former officer of the Mudanjiang Prison, is being held at the Mudanjiang Detention Center. He was previously arrested in 2008 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was later sentenced to a five-year prison term. He was released from prison not long ago.

Attorneys Arrested for Requesting Visitation Rights

The attorneys of Mr. Zhang Yutang, Mr. Guan Rian, and Ms. Gao Yuqin were prohibited from visiting the three practitioners held at the Mudanjiang Detention Center on August 11, 2014. The attorneys went to the Mudanjiang City Procuratorate to report the situation.

Officer Tian from the Procuratorate told the attorneys the next morning that the detention center had been notified and would be required to follow the law. However, the detention center ignored the notice and did not allow the attorneys to visit their clients. The attorneys went to the Reporting Center of the Mudanjiang City Inspecting and Discipline Committee and the Police Department to request visiting rights. The attorneys were then arrested around 2:00 p.m. that day.

The attorneys were Mr. Li Chunfu, Mr. Li Dunyong, and Ms. Wang Yu.
