(Minghui.org) “Simple, solid, open and selfless.” This was some common feedback from practitioners who attended the 2014 Falun Dafa Conference of Canada.

The conference took place at the University of Toronto on August 23. Practitioners from many cities in Eastern Canada and some from Western Canada joined the event. Several attendees said that they found huge gaps between their own cultivation and the experiences presented by the speakers. For them, this meant a renewed resolve to cultivate more diligently.

Inspiring Sharing

Ms. Liao who works at a media agency said, “As a Dafa practitioner, listening to others' sharing is quite inspiring. I learned a lot. This reminds me to be more diligent so that I may save more sentient beings. Even though I have worked very hard in media projects, I feel I have been mainly working and could have cultivated myself more in the process.”

We Must Constantly Break Through

“I now have the sense of urgency to clarify the facts to people in person,” said Mr. Hong from Montreal.

He said that he constantly faces challenges in his cultivation. Making breakthroughs is a constant requirement. To achieve this, studying the Fa is a must. While he started memorizing the Fa on his commute, he changed to just reading because it was easier. However, he then realized that simply reading was not enough for him to assimilate to the Fa wholeheartedly.

He then resumed memorizing the Fa. Soon, he regained the wonderful feeling of being immersed in the Fa. “When I memorize the Fa, I feel everything in my environment calms down, as if the air was frozen. Nothing is on my mind; only the Fa quietly flows in my thoughts.”

He also overcame his introverted personality and became a local coordinator: “I asked myself why I couldn't do coordination work when there's a need for coordinators? I searched inward and found a lot of hidden attachments: I was afraid of having responsibilities, afraid of accountability. I was attached to comfort. This helped me see through the real reasons. When I actually do the work, I find it is not as difficult as I had thought. I know that Master is helping me. The first step was hard to make. We have to constantly break through our selfish notions to walk a righteous cultivation path.”

Balancing Work and Cultivation Well

Ms. Wang started practicing Falun Dafa when she was in the 6th grade. She said that fellow practitioners' sharing was like a mirror and gave her inspiration as to how to resolve her current issues.

She and her father stopped practicing Dafa out of fear after the nationwide persecution was launched in July 1999 in China. She was very unhappy as a result. She reconnected with Falun Dafa in 2007. Her direct supervisor was a Dafa practitioner during her apprenticeship.

Upon coming to Canada in 2011, she heard Master lecture in person twice and knew more about the value of cultivation and the solemnity of the mission of saving sentient beings.

She was hired by a well-known international accounting firm and had to work a lot of hours each week. Balancing work and cultivation became a challenge. She realized that she should first and foremost treat herself as a cultivator, then she should be able to be a good employee and a good cultivator at the same time.
