(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhang Xinzi's health deteriorated while being held in Shayang Prison. He experiences numbness of his body and his vision is worsening after his eyes were injured by the guards at a detention center.

Family visits were denied three times. Mrs. Zhang was finally granted a visit at Shayang Prison on June 7, 2013. She was shocked to see her husband who within three years of his arrest was emaciated and his black hair had turned gray.

Mr. Zhang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xishui County, Hubei Province, was arrested for telling people about Falun Gong on August 3, 2010. He was unlawfully sentenced to seven years in prison on June 29, 2011, after being detained at a forced labor camp for one year.

Brutal Beating Causes Loss of Vision

While being held at the Xishui Detention Center, Mr. Zhang was beaten by the guards trying to extort a confession. His eyes were damaged and kept deteriorating after that. Mr. Zhang told his wife that his vision was so poor now that he could not even see large objects, such as a television, directly in front of him. This tragic news really upset his family.

Family Suffered

Mr. Zhang was the main income earner for the family. His wife had to shoulder the responsibility of caring for his elderly mother, paying for his youngest son's expensive tuition and high medical expenses for herself.

Mr. Zhang's 95-year-old mother took the arrest and imprisonment of her son very hard. Now, she is almost blind and unable to recognize anyone.

A Good Person Persecuted

Mr. Zhang started practicing Falun Gong in 1995 and followed the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. After cultivating, he was known as a kind person in the village and was called upon when the villagers needed help.

The villagers sympathize with Mr. Zhang. They are indignant that the CCP regime has broken up a happy family. They said: “The CCP is very bad. How can they arrest such a good person like Mr. Zhang?”
