Additional Persecution News from China – August 1, 2014 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 29 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Shirong's Situation Unknown

Agents from the 610 Office stopped Ms. Li Shirong from entering the Hecheng District Courthouse to attend the trial of Ms. Tang Qingying, Ms. Yin Qiuyang, Ms. Tang Kaiju, and Ms. Xiao Guiying in the morning of July 31, 2014. She was subsequently arrested. Her current situation is unknown.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Qu Bin Sentenced to a Six Year Term

Mr. Qu Bin and Mr. Zhang Guoli were arrested at their rented residence on July 23, 2014, and were held in the Yaojia Detention Center. Mr. Qu's family was notified on July 30 that he had been sentenced to a six-year prison term. Mr. Qu is being held in the Dalian Detention Center.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bai Yunxiang Detained

Ms. Bai Yunxiang from Jinzhou New District was arrested and taken to the Jinnanlu Drug Rehabilitation Center on July 20, 2014. She was then transferred to the brainwashing center in Yaojia Prison.

4. [Weiyuan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Cuirong and Her Husband Arrested

Ms. Liu Cuirong and her husband from the south of Weiyuan County were arrested by Zhang Bing and other officers from the Weiyuan Domestic Security Division on July 6, 2014. Their computer, printer, and other items were confiscated. The couple was taken to the Weiyuan Detention Center. Ms. Liu's husband was released.

5. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Shuzhen and Ms. Liu Falan Arrested

Ms. Yang Shuzhen and Ms. Liu Falan were arrested by officers from the Guankou Police Station for talking about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 11, 2014. Ms. Yang was released that day. Ms. Liu was held for five days and then released.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Lanhua and Her Husband Arrested

Ms. Liu Lanhuan and her husband Mr. Chen Guoxiang, from the Changchun No. 1 Automotive Manufacturing Factory, were arrested by officers from the factory's police branch.

7. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Xueqing and Ms. Qin Lan Arrested

Ms. Li Xueqing and Ms. Qin Lan, both in their seventies, were arrested by two plainclothes officers for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 28, 2014. They were taken to the Xinjiamiao Police Station and their homes were ransacked. Ms. Li and Ms. Qin were released at around 10:00 p.m. that day.

8. [Dayi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Gong Zhenqiong Detained

Ms. Gong Zhenqiong from Yinping Township were recently arrested. They are being held in the Dayi Police Station.

9. [Nanping City, Fujian Province] Ms. Huang Fuxiu Arrested

Ms. Huang Fuxiu, a senior teacher at the Dongfeng Primary School in Jianou, was reported to police for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to her students in May 2014. Chief Lin Xiaoming and other officers from the State Security Team subsequently ransacked her home and confiscated a laptop computer and other items. Officers from the State Security Team took her to the Jianou Detention Center at the end of June.

10. [Liaoyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Shuqiu Detained

Ms. Wang Shuqiu was arrested by officers from the Xining Police Station for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 31, 2014. Her home was ransacked and photos of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, along with Falun Gong books, were confiscated. Ms. Wang is still being detained.

11. [Tieli City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hongtu Detained

Mr. Liu Hongtu was arrested for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in Wangyang Township on the morning of July 31, 2014. He is being held in the Tieli Police Department.

12. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhou Jinba Arrested

Over ten agents, including the Party secretary of the Rika Political and Legal Affairs Committee, chief of the Jiangzi Domestic Security Division, and director of the Jiangzi Comprehensive Management Office, broke into Mr. Zhou Jinba's home and confiscated two copies of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, two Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, and two laptop computers on the afternoon of July 29, 2014. Mr. Zhou, a retired lieutenant colonel from the Tibet Military Area, was subsequently taken to the Guangming Police Station, where he was insulted in public and beaten. He was released that afternoon.

Ms. Feng Guoyun and Mr. Liu Chengshan were arrested on their way home on the afternoon of July 29, 2014. Their homes were ransacked. Ms. Feng and Mr. Liu are being held in the Jinan Detention Center.

14. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Hui Detained

Ms. Sun Hui and another elderly practitioner were arrested at Ms. Sun's hair salon by officers from the Wangershan Police Station in Bayuquan on the afternoon of July 29, 2014. The elderly practitioner was released that day after her family demanded her release. Ms. Sun was taken to Yinkou City.

Ms. Zhang Xiaohong was arrested by officers from the Pencheng Police Station for distributing informational DVDs about Falun Gong on the morning of July 28, 2014. She is being held in the Ruichang Detention Center.

16. [Jiaozuo City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Jiancheng Detained

Jiaozuo Court authorities tried Ms. Ren Haiying on July 30, 2014. Mr. Zhang Jiancheng from Yanshi City went to pick up the practitioner's lawyer in front of the Jiyuan Detention Center, and was consequently arrested by chief Xue Hongwu from the Jiyuan Domestic Security Division, along with agents from the Yanshi Domestic Security Division. Mr. Zhang is being held in the Jiyuan Detention Center.

17. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Chirong and Ms. Liu Xinqi Arrested

Ms. Liu Chirong, 51, and Ms. Liu Xinqi, 60, were arrested for talking about Falun Gong on July 30, 2014.

18. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Ping's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhang Ping, 52, from Qingyang County in Gansu Province, was arrested in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 18, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.

19. [Anyi County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xiong Guizhen and Ms. Gong Aimin's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Xiong Guizhen was arrested by agents from the Huicheng Police Station and Domestic Security Division on July 26, 2014, for distributing brochures about the persecution of Falun Gong in Huicheng District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province. Her home renovation store was ransacked, and her computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and other items were confiscated. Her husband and son, who are not Falun Gong practitioners, were also arrested.

Ms. Xiong's sister-in-law, Ms. Gong Aimin, and her elder brother (not a practitioner) were also arrested on the evening of the next day. Their whereabouts are unknown.

20. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Pei Shangyou Detained

Mr. Pei Shangyou was taken to the Nongan Brainwashing Center on July 30, 2014.

21. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Zheng Cuilan Arrested

Ms. Zheng Cuilan, about 60, was arrested at July 30, 2014.

22. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Yajun Arrested

Ms. Li Yajun was arrested by officers from the Duilu Police Station on the morning of July 28, 2014, for going to the police station to demand the release of Ms. Xing Dan. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Zhang Shufeng from Zhifu District was arrested on the afternoon of July 24, 2014, and taken to the Yuxilu Police Station, for talking about Falun Gong. She was found to have high blood pressure (200 /100) and was released.
