(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Peixian from Qiqihar City was sentenced to five years imprisonment in 2010, because of her belief in Falun Gong. She suffered various forms of torture at Heilongjiang Women's Prison, such as being stretched on a bed by her four limbs, resulting in heavy swelling of her abdomen and legs. When she was released on medical parole on May 3, 2014, the district police did not allow her to return home. Ms. Li was forced to become homeless. Her daughter is still in prison.

Below is Ms. Li's account of the persecution she endured.

I suffered from many illnesses in my thirties: insomnia, stomach pain, heart disease, abdominal pain and abnormal periods. I started practicing Falun Gong around 1995 and soon became free of illness.

After the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, I was repeatedly persecuted. I went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested on Tiananmen Square in April 2002. I was taken back to Qiqihar the next day, and was held at the Qiqihar No. 1 Detention Center. I was later sentenced to three years of forced labor.

At the end of October 2002, I was taken to the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp, where the guards tried to get me to renounce my belief. They played slanderous recordings about Falun Gong to me everyday, and they had a group of people yelling at me day and night. Three months later, I had the symptoms of heavy bleeding from uterine fibroids. My blood pressure dropped and I was in critical condition. The labor camp authorities had me taken home because they were afraid to take responsibility if I died in there.

My daughter Li Yaoguang and I were arrested on January 5, 2010, and were held in a detention center. We were sentenced to five years in prison six months later, and I was detained in the No. 9 Prison District of Heilongjiang Women's Prison. They immediately set to work on trying to get me to renounce my belief. I firmly resisted, so the guards forced me to sit on a small stool for over ten days. My pants were torn, exposing two bloody wounds on my hips. The perpetrators included guards Zheng Jie, Wang Shanshan, and inmates Li Shuangli and Miao Weiwei.

I started a hunger strike to resist the persecution. A month later I was taken to the No. 2 Medical University Hospital in Harbin for a check up. They found that I had severe uterine fibroids that were life-threatening, so they took me to the prison hospital. I was advised to have surgery and told that the prison would pay for my operation. I did not believe that I needed an operation and refused, because I knew the symptoms were caused by the persecution, and they could not be cured at any hospital.

I was released on medical parole in July 2011. I studied the Fa with fellow practitioners, but officers from the Tiefeng Police Station constantly followed and harassed me. The police arrested three other practitioners and myself on December 7. I was taken to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison because my family refused to pay their extortion demands.

On July 11, 2012, a group of guards searched every cell, and confiscated our collection of Fa lectures. They also wrote “prisoner” on all our clothes. Li Yushu and I refused to wear them, so they instigated inmates to take off our clothes and scrawled “prisoner” in big characters on our bodies, backs and faces. They then humiliated us by forcing us to walk in and out of the cell naked, laughing at us. But we did not give in to their demands.

The perpetrators were guard Dai Ying, team leader Sheng Na and inmates Zhang Fangqing (from Qiqihar, who is over 40 years old), Li Yingfu (from Harbin, 40 years old), Han Xiuqin (from Zhaodong, 64 years old), Wang Jing (from Harbin, 34 years old) and Guo Jia (from Harbin, around 36 years old).

I was transferred to the intensive team on the 2nd floor, where I insisted on doing the exercises every day. Inmates Xing Guohui, Gao Fuyan, Guo Jia, Wang Jing and Han Xiuqin held me down on the bed, tied and cuffed my limbs to the four corners of the bed frame and stretched out my limbs. I was tortured in this position 24 hours a day, for three straight months. I could not wash myself the whole time, and still had my warm clothes on in May. I was smelly and the bedding was very dirty.

Inmate Yang Jing, in her forties, was transferred to the intensive team. She was vicious and often stopped me and two other practitioners from doing the exercises. Inmates Li Yingchun and Xu Bing often lifted me up and threw me to the ground, nearly killing me once. The intensive team was led by Jiang Ting and guard Sun Yan.

One day in mid-April 2014, I could not get up off the floor. I was taken to a forensic center for an examination. The authorities then suddenly released me on bail to receive medical treatment on May 13, but required a letter from a person that could take responsibility locally before they would let me go.

Officers from the Tiefeng Police Station, where my household was registered, refused to take responsibility for me. The prison authorities then got a family member from the Jianhua District to sign the paperwork instead.

Jianhua District community officers often visited me and told me to report my thoughts to them regularly. I could not have one day of peace, so I had to leave home. I also worry about my daughter's safety in prison.
