(Minghui.org) I used to suffer from a paralyzing condition that kept me confined to bed. I also had excruciating pain due to body cramps. In the winter, I had to sleep on a summer bed with the fan switched on and have cold water poured over me. I couldn't even get up to use the restroom and needed caretakers to keep me clean. I wrote my will in preparation for my demise and often contemplated suicide.
At my lowest point, someone introduced me to an especially good practice, which changed my life.
Suffering from a Strange Paralysis, No Hope for the Future
The first signs of my problem occurred in 1994. I experienced intense cramps in my right foot. Hospital scans determined the problem was a slipped disc. In September I had surgery in the provincial hospital, but suffered a relapse soon after. I then consulted a number of traditional Chinese medical practitioners. Despite trying numerous remedies, I found no relief. Finally at one of the major hospitals near a relative's home, I found a neurologist.
My wife and I visited the hospital in June 1995. After a number of tests, the doctor discovered a brain tumor near the crown of my head in a cluster of sensory nerves. Without an operation I would only have months to live. However there was a high risk of injuring the surrounding nerves, resulting in post-operative complications. Finally I went ahead and had the operation.
Within a few months, the condition recurred. I was paralyzed and bedridden, and I needed caretakers to tend to my every need. Debilitating and very painful cramps wracked the right half of my body.
Obtaining Dafa and a New Lease on Life
In June 1998, a friend introduced me to a new practice and told me he had heard tales of its miraculous healing power. According to him, many terminally ill patients had successfully recovered after following the teachings of the book Zhuan Falun. My friend wanted to get me a copy.
Since I was on the verge of death anyway, I thought that I had nothing to lose. On June 5, 1998, I obtained a copy of the precious book Zhuan Falun.
I was immediately captivated by the teachings in that book and felt that all it said was very logical. My wife and I began to study the practice in earnest.
I read a couple dozen pages during my first attempt, and subsequently noticed different colored Falun behind every word. The Fa principles within inspired me to keep reading.
I had finally found the true meaning of life and the reason behind my suffering. It was an indescribable experience, and my health gradually began to improve.
Returning to Good Health in Leaps and Bounds
During Fa study, the nerves in my brain would feel like flowing water, a very comfortable feeling. I knew that Master was taking care of me, and I experienced increased stamina when reading the book.
Gradually, I regained my strength and was able to leave my bed, albeit still needing help. My first steps were unsteady, like a child learning how to walk. I then improved in leaps and bounds and was even able to take care of my daily hygiene.
Not long after, I was able to walk out of my front door to enjoy the sun and the grass beneath my feet. My fellow villagers were shocked to see me leave my house and personally witnessed the miracle of Dafa.
The more I studied the Fa, the more I saw Master's efforts in cleansing my body. No matter how cold the winter temperature at night, my clothes would be soaked in sweat by morning. I understood that Master was trying to clean out the impurities in my body.
Under Master's compassionate protection, I was able to leave my bed and do the exercises within three months. Within half a year, I was miraculously restored to full health.
Having personally witnessed the miracle of Dafa, my son and youngest daughter stepped into the practice. My eldest daughter also started reading the books. Thanks to Master's boundless compassion, my family found happiness.
Gone were our days bathed in tears. Our entire family would like to take this opportunity to thank Master for his grace!
Master's Compassionate Protection
I have encountered many miracles in the course of my cultivation. Below are two examples.
I was showing a video recording of Master's lecture to a group of practitioners when another practitioner brought me a copy of Master's latest teachings. While someone was changing the discs in the DVD player, I took the opportunity to begin copying Master's latest teachings, but was unable to finish by the time the discs were changed. However, the television refused to display any images despite our efforts. Another practitioner advised me to resume copying later and to listen to the Fa lecture first.
I left the adjacent room and entered the screening area. As soon as I sat down, the television immediately began to resume screening the video images normally.
At that point, everyone felt Master's benevolence and remarked on the miracle while I was moved to tears.
At another time, a practitioner in charge of coordination visited our practice site to learn more about our current cultivation situation. We talked until 1 a.m. Just as we were about to go to sleep, the light suddenly switched on and the room was illuminated. The fellow practitioner turned to me and wondered why the light was able to automatically come on by itself.
I replied that we should try to search for the reason, and asked him for his usual exercise time. He replied that it was at 1 a.m. We noticed that it was exactly 1 a.m. and I asked, “Isn't this the usual time for you to exercise? Master is reminding you not to sleep.”
The practitioner then asked me what time I practiced the exercises, and I replied that I did so at 4 a.m. He then said, “How about this, we will get up together at 4 a.m to practice the exercises.” I agreed, and immediately the light automatically switched off.
That night we felt Master's presence beside us, protecting us as we cultivate and constantly guiding us to elevate.
Exposing Lies and Clarifying the Truth
After suffering two years from debilitating paralysis, I was miraculously cured. This news quickly spread to miles around, and more people came to join the practice, boosting our numbers from a few individuals to dozens.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) initiated its unprecedented persecution of Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, slandering the practice and ridiculing Master while cruelly persecuting Dafa practitioners.
A few days after broadcasting the evil propaganda, the local court and police station sent over 7 or 8 ruffians. They broke into my home to conduct a search. My wife and I clarified the truth to them, and said that it was Dafa and Master who saved our family and that Dafa is good.
Because my situation was widely known among the locals, the ruffians were speechless when confronted with this truth and left reluctantly.
From that day on, officers frequently visited my home to harass and spy on us. This had serious repercussions on our group practice environment and caused great distress to fellow practitioners.
With our cultivation environment disrupted, we were forced to change our schedule and practice the exercises at night. At night, my wife and I ventured out to distribute informational materials. In the daytime, we struck up conversations with people to clarify the truth.
Most of those I met would inevitably ask, "Why did the media paint Falun Dafa in such a bad light?"
I would reply that the media was reporting fabrications, that Falun Dafa was able to cure illness and restore a person to health. I said, "As you have witnessed, I am a living example of that."
Most people were able to take my words to heart and accept the truth. A few years later, I also persuaded them to quit the CCP and its affiliated associations.
Elderly Village Party Secretary Understood the Truth and Benefited from Defending Dafa
Just before the 2000 New Year, a meeting was held for local village officials. In order to prevent Falun Dafa practitioners from submitting petitions, the village party secretary was ordered to take practitioners to the city brainwashing center.
Our local party secretary understood the truth, so he told all those assembled, “I believe Falun Dafa is good. It would be great if everyone could practice, because those farmers in our village who practice Falun Dafa always voluntarily deliver their tax payments on time. Falun Dafa practitioners in our village are good people who live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I have no intention of taking these people to the brainwashing center.”
After hearing what he had to say, the town leaders did not blame or criticize him. One of them even gave him 300 yuan to tide him over for the upcoming New Year. The brainwashing center representatives were left powerless to act.
While writing down my personal cultivation experiences, I would also like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the immense benevolence Dafa has bestowed on me, and to thank Master for his compassionate mercy! I hope that more people will understand the truth and enjoy a bright future.
