Additional Persecution News from China – July 5, 2014 (28 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 28 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 26 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Wei Jiuqin Taken to the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wei Jiuqin was arrested at home by deputy secretary Wang and officers from the Chongqing City 610 Office on the morning of July 1, 2014. The police ransacked her home. Ms. Wei was taken to the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Center the next day.

2. [Wuzhong City, Ningxia Province] Ms. Luo Xinping Sentenced

Ms. Luo Xinping was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Litong District Court on the morning of July 4, 2014. She was taken to the Qingtongxia Detention Center.

3. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Yao Wei Detained

Mr. Yao Wei was arrested at work by deputy captain Chen and officers from the Futian District Domestic Security Division at noon on June 16, 2014. He is being held at the Futian District Detention Center in Shenzhen City.

4. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Xiuqin Arrested

Ms. Liu Xiuqin was recently arrested.

5. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Yuxia and Ms. Zhu Yanwen Arrested

Ms. Qu Yuxia and Ms. Zhu Yanwen were arrested by officers from the Henan Police Station on July 3, 2014, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ping Yanmei's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Ping Yanmei was arrested at home by about five officers around June 18, 2014. The police brought handcuffs and a video recorder with them. They confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Ping's whereabouts is unknown.

7. [Suixi County, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Minge and Her Sister Arrested

Ms. Zhang Minge and her sister, from Suixi County, were arrested by officers from the Sanba County Police Station in Suzhu City on June 21, 2014, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong at Suzhu City.

8. [Linzhou City, Henan Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wang Xueyun and Ms. Yi Ying were arrested on the afternoon of June 29, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at Qingsha Village. They were later taken to the Linzhou City Detention Center. It was said that Ms. Wang was held for ten days and Ms. Yi five days.

9. [Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province] Seven Practitioners Detained

After being monitored a few months, Mr. Qi Changxing, Mr. Yao Hongwen, Ms. Wang Guidi, Ms. Chen Zhen, Ms. Wang Chunyan, Ms. Yu Zhiying, and Ms. Shao Hongni were arrested on the evening of April 18, 2014. The police ransacked their homes the next day. The first four practitioners are being held at the Yuyao City Detention Center and the others at the Cixi Detention Center.

10. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Qin Lianyu and Ms. Hong Jijing Arrested

Ms. Qin Lianyu and her daughter Ms. Hong Jijing were arrested on the morning of June 26, 2014. The police ransacked her home and took them to the Ningbo City Detention Center that evening.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Feng Jiwu Detained

Mr. Feng Jiwu was arrested on April 23, 2014. His family spared no efforts to locate his whereabouts. They were recently told that he was constantly transferred from place to place after the arrest and that he is being held at the Hanyang Police Department.

12. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Facing Trials

Mr. Li Feng, Mr. Wu Junhe, Mr. Wang Liang, and Mr. Li Yongchang have been held at the Fumeng County Detention Center for more than three months. Their cases were handed over to the Prosecution Section of the Fumeng County Procuratorate on June 27, 2014.

The police ransacked their homes and confiscated approximately 40,000 yuan, as well as personal items including two cars. The police refuse to return the confiscated cash and personal items.

13. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jin Biao Detained

Mr. Jin Biao, 30, was monitored by officers from Dandong City on the afternoon of July 2, 2014, because he was caught browsing the Internet on a mobile phone. Officers from the Fengshan Police Department, as ordered by the officers monitoring Mr. Jin, arrested him, ransacked his home, and confiscated Falun Gong books. He is being held at the Fengcheng City Detention Center.

14. [Qianan City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Mr. Guo Zhengping and Ms. Liu Xiumin were arrested by officers from Qianan City on June 1, 2014. After being held for 15 days, Mr. Guo was released, but not before the officers had extorted 5,000 yuan from his family.

Ms. Liu was taken to a brainwashing center.

15. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhao Yongcai Arrested

Mr. Zhao Yongcai was arrested around July 2, 2014. The police confiscated six cell phones.

16. [Tianjin] Ms. Xu Haihong Arrested

Ms. Xu Haihong, about 50, has not returned home since June 28, 2014, when she distributed informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.

17. [Shanghai] Ms. Fan Limin Tried

Ms. Fan Limin faced a second trial on July 8, 2014.

18. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Cuiyue Detained

Ms. Wang Cuiyue, 70, was arrested on the morning of July 3, 2014, for distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers from the Domestic Security Division ransacked her home that evening and confiscated several Falun Gong books. She has not been released as of date.

19. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Yanjun Arrested

Ms. Li Yanjun was arrested by officers from the Qinhuangdao City Police Department and Shanhaiguan District Police Department on June 29, 2014. The police ransacked her store and home and confiscated a computer and printer.

20. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

The 610 Office of the Fengcheng City Political and Legal Affairs Committee recently ordered police officers to harass local practitioners.

Mr. Zhang Qinggui and Ms. Wu Juan were harassed many times by officers from the Fengcheng Police Department through phone calls. The police even went to Mr. Zhang's work place to draw his blood and force him to fingerprint a document.

Ms. He Ping was harassed many time through phone calls by officers from the Fengshan Police Department, who ordered her to go to the police department.

21. [Suixi County, Guangdong Province] Mr. Yang Xiezai and Mr. Chen Yongsheng Taken to the Zhangjiang Brainwashing Center

Mr. Yang Xiezai was arrested at his store on June 6, 2014, and Mr. Chen Yongsheng at home on the evening of June 30, 20014. Both were taken to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Center.

22. [Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Xiaoyan Taken to the Xian Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wang Xiaoyan was arrested by four or five officers from the Fufeng County Political and Legal Affairs Committee on the morning of July 3, 2014. Her family asked for her release the next morning but was told that she had been taken to the Xian Brainwashing Center

23. [Chongqing] Mr. Lai Yongchang Blinded

Prison officers from the 12^th Division of the Yongchuan Prison recently covered Mr. Lai Yongchang's eyes, mouth, and ears with adhesive tape and then inserted burning cigarettes into his nostrils. Mr. Lai was blinded as a result of the torture.

24. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yu Shifang Arrested, Whereabouts Unknown

When Ms. Yu Shifang's husband returned home on the afternoon of June 24, 2014, he discovered a note on the entrance ordereing him to meet with community director Qiu Zhenglin. He further discovered that Ms. Yu was arrested around 10 a.m. that day. A knife and potatoes were left on a chopping board in the kitchen. Ms. Yu's whereabouts is unknown.

25. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Four Elderly Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Ruoxia, Ms. Liu Shuxian, Ms. Han Guilian, and Ms. Pang Zongjian were arrested at Ms. Wang's home by five plainclothes officers form the Kuiwen District Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of June 26, 2014, when they were studying Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong. The four elderly practitioners were taken to the Weifang City Detention Center.

Ms. Wang, Ms. Liu, and Ms. Han are in their 70s. Ms. Liu's husband was hospitalized due to illness and the hospital has issued a notice of critical condition. Although Ms. Liu's family and the hospital tried very hard to locate her whereabouts, they were unsuccessful.

26. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Ms. Yang Hemei Tried

Ms. Yang Hemei faced a trial on July 9, 2014.

27. [Guangfeng County, Jiangxi Province] Six Practitioners Sentenced

Six practitioners were sentenced on June 6, 2014: Ms. Xu Jing was handed a five-and-a-half-year prison term, Mr. Li Shaogui and Ms. Zhuang Shancai a five-year prison term, Ms. Zhou Xianju a four-and-a-half-year prison term, Mr. Xia Zongshui a four-year prison term, and Mr. Zhou Fushuang a two-and-a-half-year prison term. All have been held at the Guangfeng Detention Center for more than six months.

28. [Pucheng County, Fujian Province] Ms. Wu Aijuan and Ms. Lin Guijin Arrested

Two elderly practitioners, Ms. Wu Aijuan and Ms. Lin Guijin, were arrested and taken to the county police department on the morning of June 26, 2014 for talking to people and distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong and assisting people to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its associated organizations.

While being held at the police department, Ms. Wu was handcuffed with her hands behind her back and severely beaten. Her entire body was bruised. The police intended to detain her for 10 days. Ms. Wu's husband and two sons returned home to gain her release. Ms. Wu and Ms. Lin were released that evening.
