Heilongjiang Province: Practitioners Targeted for Arrest, Satellite Receivers Confiscated

(Minghui.org) Recent police raids targeting Falun Gong resulted in the arrests of several practitioners from Shuangcheng City and Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Officers from the two cities’ police departments and local police stations conducted the arrests and illegal searches between May 8 and 17, 2014.

The police confiscated more than 20 satellite receivers, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, hundreds of Falun Gong books, and many other personal belongings, particularly electronic devices that aide in receiving uncensored TV or radio broadcasts from outside China.

Arrests and Confiscation of Belongings

Three dozen officers from three different police departments showed up at Mr. Li Yueping’s home in Fuzhi Village around 7:00 a.m. on May 8, 2014. They proceeded to arrest his wife, a Falun Gong practitioner. In addition, they confiscated a satellite receiver, two pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, and two boxes of Falun Gong books. They then went to three other practitioners’ homes to confiscate several satellite receivers. They threatened to arrest the practitioners and videotaped them and their homes.

The following practitioners were arrested by officers from Shuangcheng City and Harbin City around 7 a.m. on May 8, 2014: Ms. Pan Mingyue, Ms. Chen Shuli, and Ms. Zhang Yuzhi, from Xinmin Village in Xinxing Town. Ms. Cao Ying escaped, so the police arrested her son and daughter-in-law instead. Her satellite receiver was confiscated. Ms. Pan’s computer and other personal belongings were confiscated too.

Mr. Xu Yan from Handian Town was arrested at home by officers from the Handian Police Station around 8 a.m. on May 10, 2014. The police confiscated his computer and other items. The director of the police station together with other officers went to Mr. Xu’s home again on May 13, 2014, and confiscated many personal belongings. Harbin City police illegally interrogated Mr. Xu on May 14, 2014. He is currently being held at the Shuangcheng Detention Center.

Two officers, Bai and Han, from the Chengjiao Police Station, went to local towns to harass practitioners who had recently been released. They confiscated from these practitioners’ homes pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, banners, paintings and posters with Falun Gong-related content, satellite receivers, high frequency tuners, and other items. Bai has also participated in the persecution of practitioners in several villages since November 2011.

Director Xu Hongtu, Jin Guozhu, and a young officer from the Dancheng Town Police Station went to Mr. Wei Qishan and Ms. Yan Hong’s homes around 3 p.m. on May 11, 2014. They confiscated their satellite receivers. Mr. Wei and his wife were working out of town at the time and only his elderly mother was at home. Ms. Yan was not at home either. In addition, the police also went to other practitioners’ homes to harass them and their family.

Bai and other officer from the Chengjiao Police Station went to Mr. Liang Xifa and Ms. Zhao Yanju’s home at noon on May 11, 2014, and confiscated their set-top boxes and high frequency tuners.

Officers from the Xinxing Police Station went to places of Tangjia, Minjia, Daqiao, and Xinhong on May 13, 2014, where they confiscated practitioners satellite receivers and Falun Gong books. The police went to the home of Ms. Yu Min around 6 p.m. on May 14, 2014, to arrest her but to no avail, because she escaped.

Na Yumin and about seven officers from the Chengjiao Police Station went to Mr. Li Peng’s home around 9 a.m. on May 16, 2014. They broke down his door and confiscated Falun Gong books, satellite receivers, and other items. Then they went to several practitioners’ homes and confiscated four or five satellite receivers. They also asked for phone numbers of practitioners’ families with the intention to continue to harass and persecute practitioners.

Officers from the Lequn Town Police Station went to Mr. Huang Yanhui’s home on May 17, 2014, and confiscated his satellite antenna and receivers.
