(Minghui.org) Our company opened a new restaurant. Waiters and waitresses from restaurants our company already owned were required to come and help. No one in my restaurant was willing to go, even after our manager encouraged them. He came to me for help. He said, “You have to do me a favor again this time. Can you go and work there for several days?” I agreed.
So, as usual, I greeted the customers with enthusiasm. A group of customers came into my area at lunch time. After they were served, one of the customers asked for my name. I told him it was Jin Lian. He went to the counter and said to the waiter there: “I'd like to write a complimentary note for Jin Lian. Her service is first class. We feel welcome and relaxed like at home.”
The employees were divided into two groups – the South group and North group. I was in the South group at the beginning. We had a meeting two days later. The manager said, “As I said before, a good restaurant must have good and tasty food but must also have good service and a pleasant environment. Customers come here to enjoy themselves and we must serve them well. So what is the service standard? Everybody here has seen Jin Lian, right? Her style of service is the standard. She makes clients feel at home. I saw this and a customer made similar comments. Everyone, please learn from her. She is only here for a few days.”
A waiter from the North group interrupted, “Manager, she works in the South group and I don't see her so am not able to learn from her. Can you please ask her to work with our group for two days?” The leader of the South group said, “No, she has to stay with us because we are shorthanded.” The leader of the North group said, “It won't do if she always stays with you. She will be here only a few days. She is the role model our manager asks us to learn from. It is only fair that she stay with us for a couple of days. How about that?” Someone in the South group continued, “We are all in the same building. Everyone can see each other. Jin Lian, don't leave us. You stay with our group.”
The manager then said, “Stop arguing, please. Jin Lian will work with the North group for the next two days and then will go back to the South group. Why does everyone want Jin Lian? She is good not only to customers but also to everyone. Isn't that correct?”
I went to the North group the next day. I cleaned my room and went to help the attendant in the next room. She said, “You are so efficient. Why don't you take a break?” “No, I'm all right.” I learned she was from another restaurant and came here to help out. She would go back after lunch. I had to tell her the facts about Falun Gong because I might not see her again. I asked her if she knew about quitting the Party to keep herself safe? She said, “Isn't that from Falun Gong?” I said, “Yes, Falun Gong. But what they say is true. They believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. How good is that! But the CCP persecutes them.” Later she said, “I think you are an example of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Please help me withdraw from the CCP.”
After I finished helping in that room, I went to another one. The waiter there was a boy. He said, “Auntie, I ask you to come to my group, but not to work. We like to be near you. You are good to everyone.” I said, “Aren't you the same?" He said, “No, not the same. Before you came, I was rude to everyone. But after you came, the atmosphere here is different."
This young man, called Dawei, was in his 20s. There were not many male waiters in the restaurant. I asked him why he wanted to be a waiter. He said, “I don't have any skills. I want to open a restaurant myself, but I have no experience. So I got a job here to get started. Auntie, you are always in a good mood. Though I am young, I worry all the time. You are so enlightened.” I said, “I can tell you three words. If you follow them, you will be a good person.” He asked what they were. I said, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” He said, “Oh, now I know who you are. You people are marvelous. The CCP persecutes you so severely but you still behave according to these three words. I think that the CCP is the evil cult. What is an evil cult? It promotes killing, suicide, and human suicide bombers. Falun Gong has none of that. The CCP staged the Tiananmen self-immolation and then framed Falun Gong. It was an obvious fake. The CCP is so evil.”
During lunch time all the rooms were full. Waiters ran back and forth from the kitchen with dishes, and sometimes they had to carry three or four dishes at a time. Then other attendants took the dishes to the customers in their room one by one. When I was not busy, I helped to open the door for the waiters or put the dishes on the table. Every attendant was in charge of one room and had to do all the work, including cleaning, serving dishes, and serving alcoholic beverages in that room. It was not required that we help each other. But everyone helped one another after they saw I had done so. We became closer.
Dawei liked to chat with me when we were not busy. I told him to work hard and be tolerant of others. He said: “Nobody told me these principles before. I believe in what you say.” The manager came over and said, “Jin Lian, please do not leave us. Everything has improved since you came here.” I said, “It is not appropriate. I have come here only to help with the opening.” She said, “It is not inappropriate. As long as you agree, I will have a word with the manager.” I asked her if she was a CCP member. She said yes and asked me why I asked. I said, “Can you please quit?” She looked at me and asked, “What if I don't want to?” I said, “If you don't, I will regret it terribly.” Tears came to my eyes. She said, “Ok, I'll do it. I know you want the best for me.”
I stayed with them for one week. On my last day, Dawei came to see me and said, “Auntie, I will miss you.” I said, “We are in a small city and we may come across each other one day.” He said, “That's different. Auntie, you take better care of me than my mother.” I told him to remember, “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He took out his camera and took a photo of me and said, “I will look for someone to take photos of us. When I miss you, I will look at your photo.” He then went out to find someone. A group of people then came and all wanted to take photos with me. Finally Dawei said that he would put this photo on his mobile phone.
The team leader came and asked me to go to the manager's office. The manager said, “Jin Lian, thank you for offering to help us this week. I would like you to stay with us. Are you OK with that?” I said, “It is not appropriate. I have been doing well in my original hotel.” She said, “The regulations from the head office stipulate that all restaurants have to support newly opened ones. If you agree, I will call your manager.” She then called my manager who said that she would not let me go and they would have to choose other people instead.
The next day I went back to my original restaurant. Everyone surrounded me and said, “How did you do that? The CEO knows about you now and said that our hotel has an outstanding waitress because everyone in the new restaurant, from the manager to security, from the kitchen to the front counter, all praised you.”
