[Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day] My Work Story

(Minghui.org) I was fortunate to have attended Master's lectures in June 1994. No one was in charge of directing people, but everyone became quiet as soon as Master began talking. Five thousand people in the stadium were immersed in a peaceful energy.

I didn't want to leave when each session ended, and wanted to listen to more of Master's Fa. All of my troubles and sadness disappeared, and everything became clear to me. I learned the meaning of life, and realized who I was and why I was here. A new chapter in my life had begun.

I went to the practice site to do the Falun Dafa exercises every morning, and felt relaxed and refreshed. After making breakfast, taking my child to school, and going to work, I still felt energetic in the evening.

A few of us got together and studied the Fa in the evening. We shared experiences on how to properly deal with things, look inward, and encourage each other.

On the surface, my life remained the same, but my heart was filled with peace, kindness, and tolerance. I strictly adhered to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my actions and thoughts.

I felt happy, and no longer felt pressured to do things or act in a certain way. I didn't worry about being taken advantage of by others. I knew that I should be a better person wherever I was. I thought of others first, and looked inward when faced with problems.

When my self-interest was involved, I let things take their own course. I believe that if something is mine, no one will take it away, and if something isn’t mine, I won’t be able to get it even by fighting for it. Furthermore, working is to fulfill one's obligation to society, so I should do my best. A manager needs to be fair and responsible, and employees needs to do their assignments well.

I have been practicing Falun Dafa for over 20 years and have benefited physically and mentally. I am forever indebted to Master.

I would like to share a few stories to show the wonderfulness of Dafa, and to let people know that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been lying to them while slandering the practice. I hope people can choose a bright future for themselves, and no longer be misled by the CCP propaganda.

Not Bidding On a New Home

The company I used to work for was assigning apartment units for the employees before merging with another company in 1998. The competition for the apartments were fierce, as people either tried to bribe or threaten the manager in charge of making the decisions.

As a core technical person, I was guaranteed to qualify for a new home. My spouse and I, however, decided to withdraw from the competition since we could still live in our current home. The manager urged me to reconsider since it would be the last time the company assigned houses. I told him that I needed to follow the requirements of a Dafa practitioner and think of others first. I said that someone had to stay in the old house, so it might as well be me.

Years later, in 2007, I had lunch with several of my former colleagues. Everyone was sorry to hear that I had almost lost my life due to the persecution. One of them cried and told me that he was a new employee at the time of the house assignments. If I hadn't given up on the bid for a new house, he and his two children wouldn't have had a place to live.

Becoming Director of Purchasing

I was forced to leave my workplace after the persecution began, because agents from the 610 Office were frequently harassing my managers. An owner of a private company then asked me to work for him, after he learned that I was a Dafa practitioner and of my abilities.

I worked in the purchasing department, so I smoothed the purchasing channels out and held open biddings for large projects. The owner was very supportive and put me in charge.

When the boss of a southern company came to bid on a project, he brought a case of prawns and insisted on giving them to me. I told him that I didn't accept any gifts because I was a Falun Dafa practitioner. I said that the bidding process was done entirely by the books, and was based solely on the proposal itself.

When he didn't believe me, I thanked him for his support of the company for the past years and explained to him the details of our requirements. I said that he didn't need to spend any extra money, and that we would even take care of our own meals on site visits. I further said that I just wanted the best proposal and high quality work. I was able to resolve all of his concerns. He sensed my sincerity and stopped trying to give me the prawns.

The bidding was successful. Afterwards, I was appointed director of purchasing, and put in charge of all purchasing channels.

Refusing 200,000 Yuan Per Year Kickback

The company was using a large and steady supply of imported materials that cost a lot of money. To reduce the cost, I decided to explore the possibility of switching to domestic products. After several tests, it was determined that the domestic products could be used.

A company contacted me and offered a lower price than the imported materials, and promised me an annual kickback of 200,000 yuan, in exchange for them becoming a supplier. I made it clear to him that all I wanted was to have the best price, and that there was no need for a kickback. I said that I was a practitioner, and wouldn't take any kickback. My boss was very happy to learn about it later, and gave me a special award at the end of the year.

The company grew bigger and bigger, and needed more trustworthy people in management positions. The owner asked me to find other Dafa practitioners to join the company after having witnessed my performance and dependability.

All three major departments of the company were at one time managed by practitioners. On sensitive dates, the owner did his best through his friends at the police department to protect practitioners from being persecuted.

Normally, a purchasing manager doesn't stay with a company for more than three years. Some companies even change the manager annually because the owner of the company becomes suspicious of the manager, and the suppliers are worried because they are putting down a huge sum of bond money. However, I worked in the position for eight years.

I was later unlawfully taken to a brainwashing center by CCP agents because of my belief. My former colleagues later told me that the company lost at least 500,000 yuan per year on miscellaneous purchasing alone.

Company Manager and Coworkers Try to Rescue Me

The vice-president of my workplace contacted me after I was taken to a forced labor camp, and wanted to help pay to get me out. I rejected his offer and said, “The owner and I agreed to have no contract between us. Whatever has happened to me had nothing to do with the company. Please do not succumb to the pressure and give them money. Falun Dafa is legal and the CCP is committing a crime. I do not want the company to be affected.”

Afterwards, I learned that my company had tried many ways to rescue me because I wouldn't cooperate with the forced labor camp authorities' demands to write a letter renouncing Falun Dafa.

I also found out that my colleagues voluntarily donated money twice to try to get me out. When the persecution was in full swing, daring to openly support a practitioner like my colleagues did was indeed remarkable.

Saving New Company 80,000 Yuan

I was released at the brink of death from the forced labor camp, and couldn't work. The vice-president from my workplace gave me 10,000 yuan for living expenses.

I spent a lot of time doing the Falun Dafa exercises, and recovered very quickly. When I returned to work, my position had already been taken by others. The vice-president then offered me a position as director at another company.

Knowing that Falun Gong practitioners have high integrity, the owner of the new company had me work in the purchasing department on the first day.

The first purchase was for some spare parts and was not particularly time sensitive. I therefore gathered a lot of information, compared the prices, and negotiated with the companies. My first purchase was 80,000 yuan less than the company's past purchases, and the quality and delivery of the product were all good.

The owner wanted to give me a bonus, but I told him that finding the best suppliers and reducing costs are a purchaser's duty, so there was no need for a bonus. The owner appointed me as the director of purchasing, and increased my salary by 2,000 yuan. I also helped establish a purchasing management system.

I have worked at the new company for more than three years and succeeded in achieving a 5-10% cost reduction every year. The delivery and quality of the products have met all of the company's requirements.

In China, circular debt and delay of payments can occur. However, the team I am managing has worked earnestly with the suppliers, and maintained a good relationship with them, so there have not been any lawsuits during the past two years.

The suppliers often give us gifts on special occasions. When this occurred I asked my assistant to bring them to the company and share them with everyone. I usually don't attend the suppliers' banquets or parties, except when I am asked to go with my boss.

I often remind the purchasing managers to be good people and stick to their principles in order to last longer in their positions. I also kindly tell them that when working in purchasing, they need to avoid suspicious behaviors, be patient and fair with the suppliers, and know the market well to protect the interests of the company. Additionally, two people are required when having meals with out-of-town suppliers, and the meals shouldn't be expensive.

People Don't Support the Persecution

Two people claiming to be from the city government once asked to see the owner of the company. The receptionist told them that the owner was out of town. They left after waiting for a long time.

They came again the following year, still claiming to be from the city government, but refused to show their identification. When security was called, they were forced to disclose that they were from the Domestic Security Division.

I asked the owner if he was being bothered by harassment from the Domestic Security Division. He replied, “You are doing a good job here. What you do after work is your business and has nothing to do with the company. Don't pay attention to them.”

Police broke into my home and arrested me last year. I told them the facts about Falun Dafa, that there were no legal grounds for the persecution, and that the persecution would be exposed to the world and the perpetrators brought to justice. I also mentioned that [former high-ranking CCP officials] Wang Lijun and Bo Xilai were now being punished and serving time for their involvement in persecuting Falun Dafa. I said that they should stop persecuting practitioners.

The police officers all recognized that practitioners are good people and believed that Falun Dafa is very effective in improving health. However, they felt that when practitioners said, “Heaven will eliminate the CCP, and one needs to quit it to save one's life,” it was fighting with the government.

I patiently told them a story, “A person was dying of a contagious disease. Knowing that whoever comes in contact with that person would also die, the doctor will definitely do his best to warn others to keep away, in order to save their life. Historically, no dynasty has lasted forever, and the CCP is coming to its end. Please quit it as soon as possible so that you will not be eliminated with it. Our telling people the facts and urging them to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations is entirely for the good of people.” After hearing this, the officers convinced their boss of my innocence and took me home that night.

My family members thought I would be detained for a while, since the police were terrifying when they arrested me. The owner of the company tried to find ways to rescue me the same day, but my family told him to wait. When I showed up at work the next morning, my colleagues were concerned and asked me about my situation. They also tried to help. They wanted me to be assured that they wouldn't let the police arrest me. The owner was very happy to me back.

This year, management at the company headquarters felt happy about our performance and wanted to transfer some of their work to us. This showed their approval of our work.
