A Good Person Facing Illegal Trial

(Minghui.org) The Xiangqiao District Court of Chaozhou City in Guangdong Province has recently attempted to hold an illegal trial against Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Jiacun.

Mr. Lin's family hired a human rights lawyer from Beijing to defend him. Court officers implored them not to hire lawyers from Beijing. When the court officers spoke to the family, they used the local dialect, so that the Beijing lawyer could not understand them.

Arrested and Home Ransacked

Police from the Xiangqiao District Police Department and Xixin Police Station, as well as a group of unidentified people, broke into Mr. Lin's bakery and illegally arrested him and his wife on January 24, 2014. They ransacked their house, confiscated all Falun Gong-related books, printers, 80,000 yuan, a bank card, a bank book, and other personal property.

Mr. Lin is still being detained in the Chaozhou Detention Center. His wife was released on February 24.

Background

Mr. Lin and his wife, from Chaozhou City, own a Western-style bakery. Both of them are practitioners. As practitioners of Falun Gong, they conduct themselves according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
