(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Xiurong was tried by the Keerqin District Court in Tongliao City on March 25, 2014, after nearly seven months of illegal detention.

The court police insisted on doing an illegal security search of Ms. Liu's lawyer before the trial. They kicked the lawyer out when he refused. Ten minutes later, judge Li Hailiang came out and told the lawyer to come inside.

As Ms. Liu's family members were entering the courtroom, the police said that only three immediate family members could enter. They were strictly searched.

A white van carrying seven observers arrived. All entered the court without being searched. Inside the courtroom, the judge arranged those seven people to sit in the front row, and told Ms. Liu's family members to sit at the back, in the last row, even though there were many empty seats in the front rows.

The judge read the court rules which forbade Ms. Liu's family members from speaking.

Prosecutor Wang Xixi tried to portray Ms. Liu as a repeat "criminal." She kept questioning Ms. Liu, asking questions like, “Weren't you sentenced to forced labor on this date, and then on this date...” The fact is that each time Ms. Liu was innocent of any charges, and was illegally sentenced each time. The repeated arrests showcased the severity of the ongoing persecution.

The lawyer defended Ms. Liu by stating that she had no motive to harm society, and did not harm anyone. Ms. Liu practiced Falun Gong which improved her health, and she simply wanted to let more people know about this good practice, the lawyer said. The judge interrupted the lawyer.

Prosecutor Wang Xixi showed more than 100 pieces of "evidence," including 44 Falun Gong books, 10 leaflets, 10 CDs, 6 video tapes, 9 folding fans with Falun Gong messages written on them, and currency containing written messages about Falun Gong.

Ms. Liu's lawyer asserted that these were not all "Falun Gong propaganda material." Currency is not "propaganda material" and can be spent. These materials did not prove Ms. Liu was a criminal.

The prosecutor twice requested that the judge sentence Ms. Liu "heavily," while the "crime" Ms. Liu was accused of was putting up a poster containing the words "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good" in a building.

Sentencing Delayed to a Later Date

The court process continued for about an hour and a half before the judge announced a break, and that the sentence would be announced on a later date.

Ms. Liu Xiurong, 63, was arrested on August 23, 2013, for putting up a poster containing the words "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good" in a residential building.

The materials provided by the Procuratorate to convict Ms. Liu were full of gaps and were turned down by the court twice. However, the police refused to release her. When Ms. Liu's daughter called for justice, the police threatened her.

All six members in Ms. Liu's family practice Falun Gong. For many years they could not have a family reunion because of the persecution. Their homes have been ransacked by police countless times.
