Additional Persecution News from China – April 18, 2014 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xu Guiying Arrested

Ms. Xu Guiying from Yiminyuan Residential Quarters was arrested by two plain-clothes officers on the evening of March 20, 2014, for sharing information about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Domestic Security Division of Tangshan Police Department Gaoxin Branch, where she was held in an interrogation room, handcuffed to a metal chair, and monitored by three agents. She was denied use of the restroom for seven hours. Ms. Xu failed a physical examination and so was not admitted to a detention center. After having 2,000 yuan extorted from her, she was released.

Her home was ransacked, and items that were confiscated from her home included Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly , photos of Falun Gong founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, a computer, a cell phone, and informational materials about Falun Gong.

2. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Yunkun Detained

Mr. Zhang Yunkun was arrested by officers from the Jiefang Police Station on the afternoon of April 12, 2014, for explaining the facts about Falun Gong. His home was ransacked and he is being held in the Anshan Detention Center.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yukun Tortured

Ms. Liu Yukun was cruelly beaten by five officers in a detention center on April 10, 2014. They tied up her arms and legs with tape, kicked her in her lower abdomen, and hit her head until it bled.

4. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Shuqin Detained

Ms. Wang Shuqin, in her 60s, from the Tanggu District was arrested in front of the apartment building where she lived on April 16, 2014, as she was returning home. She was taken to the Shangbei Police Station in Yicheng and is being held in the Zhaojiadi Detention Center.

5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Liya Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Ms. Wu Liya, who worked at the Longganhu General Factory, was arrested for raising awareness about Falun Gong in 2013. She was sentenced to five years in prison by the Huanggang Intermediate Court. On March 26, 2014, she was sent to the Wuhan Women's Prison Management Bureau.

6. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Cuizhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Cuizhen was arrested by officers from the Dianchang Police Station in the Wumahe District on the evening of April 16, 2014, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. Her home was ransacked and her computer, printer, DVD burner, DVDs, printing paper, and other items were confiscated.

7. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. An Fenglan and Ms. Yang Xiuxiang Detained

Ms. An Fenglan and Ms. Yang Xiuxiang from Beiqiandawa in the Xinshi District were recently arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Chenjia Village in the Shanhaitian District. They are being held in the Rizhao Detention Center.

8. [Anhui Province] Mr. Tang Deheng Detained

Mr. Tang Deheng was arrested on a train traveling to Xuancheng City on March 31, 2014. He was taken to the Xuancheng Detention Center and has been transferred to the Suzhou Detention Center.

9. [Tianjin] Ms. Cui Xifen Arrested

Officers from the Nankai Police Department Domestic Security Division and Liu Wei from the local police station broke into Ms. Cui Xifen's home on the afternoon of April 14, 2014, and arrested her. They ransacked her home and confiscated three printers, a computer, a cell phone, all the Falun Gong books, cash, and other items.

10. [Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Yufan Detained

Officers from the Erdaowan Police Station broke into Mr. Zhang Yufan's home and arrested him on April 17, 2014. He was taken to the Erdaowan Police Station.

11. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Xu Wei Arrested

Officers from the Yanliang Police Station barged into Ms. Xu Wei's home and arrested her on March 18, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.

12. [Shanghai] Mr. Wang Zhongbao Arrested

Mr. Wang Zhongbao was arrested by officers from the State Security Bureau on April 14, 2014. His whereabouts are unknown.

13. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cui Chuncheng and His Wife Detained

Mr. Cui Chencheng and his wife, Ms. Li Shuxiang, from Miaoling were arrested by officers from Dandong City on April 2, 2014. Mr. Cun was taken to the Kuandian Detention Center and Ms. Li to the Dandong Detention Center. Their home was ransacked, and a computer, a printer, DVDs, a DVD burner, and other items were confiscated.

14. [Yinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Yanmei Arrested

Ms. Liu Yanmei was arrested by officers from the Puwang Police Station on the morning of November 28, 2013. Her home was ransacked, and her Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, a stamp, 3,000 yuan in cash, ID card ,and other items were confiscated. She was held for two days and tortured until she could not walk by herself. She was then released.

15. [Qidong County, Hunan Province] Ms. Cao Cuiyun Arrested

Ms. Cao Cuiyun, 68, was arrested by agents from the Qidong 610 Office and the Chenglianxu Police Station on April 16, 2014. Her home was ransacked. Her whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Li Ronglan Arrested

Ms. Li Ronglan from Wudan Town was recently arrested. She is being held in the Lindong Detention Center in Baarin Left Banner.

17. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Li Detained

Ms. Wang Li from the Jinzhou District was arrested for talking about Falun Gong in March 2014. After being held in the Jinnanlu Drug Rehabilitation Center for 15 days, she was transferred to the Nanguanling Detention Center.

18. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Two Detained

Officers from the Aohan Banner Domestic Security Division and the local police station arrested Mr. Wang Dawu, Mr. Si Shuquan, and Mr. Liu Shuhua from Lingyuan City on the afternoon of April 14, 2014. The three practitioners were working for Beizifu Cement Factory in Aohan Banner, Chifeng City. They are being held in the Aohan Banner Detention Center.

Ms. Li Wen is being held in the Lingyuan Detention Center and Ms. Chai Haiyan in the Chaoyang Detention Center.

19. [Anqing City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Lihua and Ms. Yu Qiuying Detained

Ms. Wu Lihua and Ms. Yu Qiuying were arrested on March 13, 2014, for explaining the facts about Falun Gong. After being held in a detention center for almost a month, the police station authorities promised their families to release them if the families handed in 5,000 yuan each. After the families complied, two of the practitioners were still not released. They were transferred to a brainwashing center on April 13.

Agents from the Sheyang Police Department Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Zhang Ling from Xingqiao Town on the afternoon of April 17, 2014. Her whereabouts are unknown.
