Additional Persecution News from China – May 22, 2014 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Huidi's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Xu Huidi, in her 50s, was arrested on the morning of May 20, 2014, for distributing She Yun Performing Arts DVDs. The police ransacked her home and her whereabouts is unknown.

2. [Haicheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Shulan Sentenced

Ms. Chen Shulan was sentenced to four years in prison by the Haicheng City Court on February 14, 2014. She was taken to Shengyang Prison on April 15, 2014.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Han Jing Detained

Ms. Han Jing was arrested by officers from Shenyang City on the afternoon of May 17, 2014. She is being held at the Shenyang City Detention Center No. 1.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Guoxiang Dying

Mr. Wang Guoxiang was arrested on July 1, 2012, and later sentenced to five years in prison. He was taken to Gongzhuling Prison on March 22, 2013. He is near death due to torture.

5. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Ruifeng Arrested

Ms. Wang Ruifeng was arrested on May 13, 2014, when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

6. [Linquan County, Anhui Province] Ms. Ma Junping and Ms. Li Aiping Detained

Ms. Ma Junping and Ms. Li Aiping were arrested at home by officers from Linquan County, Miaocha Town, Chengguan Town, and the local police station on the afternoon of May 4, 2014. They were taken to the Fuyang City Brainwashing Center and then released on May 16, 2014.

7. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Zhe Arrested

Mr. Zhao Zhe was arrested on May 17, 2014, when he talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police confiscated his Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, and informational material about Falun Gong. He was taken to the Huludao City Detention Center.

8. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Yunquan Detained

Ms. Wang Yunquan, 69, was arrested by officers from the local police station on March 20, 2014. She is being held at the Yongxing City Detention Center.

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Chen Zhongyi, Ms. Wang Xiaming, and Ms. Zhang Lihua were arrested at home by officers from the Qingshan District 610 Office and Qingshan Town Police Station at noon of May 21, 2014. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books and a computer.

10. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Huan Mei, in her 50s, and Mr. Wang Luchao's wife, in her 70s, were arrested on the evening of May 19, 2014, when they distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials.

11. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Several Practitioners Detained

Several practitioners including Mr. Cheng Jianli were arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Hefei City Police Department on the evening of May 18, 2014. They are being held at the Hefei City Detention Center No. 1.

12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Yonghang in Critical Condition

Mr. Wang Yonghang, a lawyer, had his ankles injured when he was arrested by officers from the Liaoning Province Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of July 24, 2009. His ankles got infected with pseudomonas aeruginosa (a common bacteria that can cause disease in humans. This infection can be complicated and life-threatening.) and have not healed for the past five years. He was recently taken to a hospital for treatment by officials of Shenyang Prison No. 1.

13. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Tianjie Detained

Ms. Zhang Tianjie and her husband were arrested on April 14, 2014. Her husband was released the next day, but she is being held at the Jinan Detention Center.

14. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wu Cuilan, Ms. Huang Bi, Ms. Yang Guixiang, and Ms. Wong Fenglian were arrested and interrogated by a dozen officers, including Xiong Zhengyuan, on May 13, 2014.

Ms. Wang Yubo and Ms. Gu were arrested on May 16, 2014. Ms. Wang is being held at the Linyi County Detention Center and Ms. Gu at the Linyi County Detention House.

16. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province] Mr. Ma Yingjie Detained

Mr. Ma Yingjie was recently arrested by the director of the Midong District 610 Office and Li Moumou, officer from the Yulinlu Community. He was taken to the Urumqi Brainwashing Center.

17. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Guixiang Arrested

Ms. Niu Guixiang was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center on April 17, 2014.

Ms. Li Guixiang and Ms. Li Huiqin were arrested and taken to the Longquan Brainwashing Center in Neigezhuang County on April 28, 2014.

19. [Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Imprisoned

Ms. Zeng Hui, detained at the Guangdong Province Women's Prison, was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. Her husband is being held in Guangdong Province Men's Prison.

Ms. Liang Shaolin was sentenced to a nine-year prison term and Ms. Lu Honghui to 15 years. They are being held in Guangdong Province Women's Prison.

Ms. Guo Hongxia was arrested on May 15, 2014, when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

21. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Gu Changyu's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Gu Changyu, arrested on September 13, 2013, was once held at the Changchun Detention Center No. 3. His current whereabouts is unknown.

22. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Several practitioners, including Mr. Zhang Xizheng and Ms. Wang Zhimin, were arrested on May 16, 2014. Their whereabouts are still unknown.

Mr. Wang Haijin was arrested on April 22, 2014, and is being held at the Funing Detention Center. He has been on hunger strikes to protest the persecution for many days and is accordingly very weak. As a result, the officers have force-fed him.
