(Minghui.org) I'm recounting something I experienced in 2012. The people involved were Mr. Liu and his wife, who are in their 70s. They live in a village about two miles from my home. Mr. Liu is an honest and kind man, who doesn't take advantage of others. Ms. Liu is an outspoken woman who will fight to see that justice is done.
One day after I finished some work at their home, I gave them a brochure titled “Seven Years of Waiting and Nine Years of Unjust Imprisonment.” It was about rescuing a practitioner. I hoped they could learn some truth about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Awakened by a Falun Gong Brochure
Ms. Liu called me very early the next morning. I was surprised and worried that something had gone wrong with what I had done for them. That not being the case, she told me that she could not sleep well the night before after having read the brochure. “It was written so well that I was touched.” She asked me to stop by for a chat.
After I got there, Ms. Liu told me that her family was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution and she knew that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was evil. “Why does the CCP persecute Falun Gong practitioners? They follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and do not violate any laws. I am so angry. I should help that practitioner while he is in danger. Prison is no place for such a good person. We should think of a way to get him out of there. What can I do?”
I told her that we were collecting signatures to rescue him. She immediately said she would sign the petition. After she neatly signed her name, she thought it would be important to put a red handprint on the petition, so she did. Then she asked Mr. Liu to sign it, too.
Mr. Liu read the brochure and was touched, too. He said that he was not afraid to sign even if the CCP came after him. He said, “They tortured him so terribly but still do not release him. I dare to talk about it.”
I was moved by their kindness and thanked them sincerely.
Telling More People About the Petition
When I passed by their home around noontime that day, I met up with Ms. Liu. She invited me to have lunch at her home. I did not want to trouble them and said no. But she told me that her son and son-in-law were there and I should talk to them so that they could help to save the practitioner, too. So I stayed for lunch. Her son and son-in-law signed the petition and pressed their handprints on the petition after I told them the story.
After the practitioner was released, I told Ms. Liu the news. She was really happy to hear it and glad that she could contribute to the rescue effort.
Benefiting from Helping a Practitioner
We often were told by the elderly that good deeds would be rewarded. Mr. Liu's family was indeed blessed.
In the fall of 2012, there was a big flood in our area, the worst in a decade. All the cornfields in Mr. Liu's village were flooded except his. The corn in his fields grew very well, as well as the produce in his other fields. Later, when it was time to plant Chinese cabbages, he and his wife planted theirs late and did not have time to water them. It rained after the cabbage was planted. Their neighbors' Chinese cabbage had rotted, but theirs grew so well that they did not fertilize their cabbage the second time.
When others asked them why their corps grew so well, Ms. Liu said. “We signed a petition to rescue a Falun Gong practitioner and got rewarded.”
