(Minghui.org) Jianyang City Court in Sichuan Province tried Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jiang Suying from Shibandeng Town on April 8, 2014. The court ignored her lawyer's defense and illegally sentenced Ms. Jiang to three and a half years.
Ms. Jiang, 61, is a simple country woman from Shibandeng Town, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. She became healthy both in mind and body after she began conducting herself following the standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Because of her belief, she has been persecuted several times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
On September 22, 2013, she was arrested and sent to Jianyang City Detention Center. The people involved were: Shibandeng Town Police Station head Zhang Shilin, residential committee security officer Wang Yong, village head Liu Deyi, Jianyang City Domestic Security Team officers Luo Jiao and Li Guangliang. She was tried on April 8, 2014.
That morning when Ms. Jiang’s lawyer arrived at the courthouse, those in charge tried to intimidate him to prevent him from defending her. The security people subjected him to a body search. They also badgered him with questions for about 30 minutes.
The trial began at 9 a.m. Although it was billed as a “public" trial,” only Ms. Jiang’s husband was allowed to attend. The 50 people sitting in the visitor seats were arranged by the Jianyang Political and Legal Affairs Committee. The Jianyang Court officer said, “Although your lawyer made reasonable statements, they cannot be allowed because this is related to Falun Gong.”
The trial ended at 11:30 a.m. Ms. Jiang Suying was sentenced to 3 and a half years.
