(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Gufang, along with six other practitioners from Luliang County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province, were sentenced to prison by the Qujing City Intermediate People's Court three years ago. Mr. Liu and his wife are still imprisoned, and the others have been released. Their relatives and friends are becoming increasingly concerned about them.

Arrested, Tried, and Sentenced to Prison

The Luliang County Police Department and Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Liu Gufang, his wife Ms. Liang Guofen, Ms. Li Xiaomei, Ms. Tai Qiongxian, Mr. Peng Pingguo, Ms. Yang Qiongguan, and Ms. Nian Dongmei on March 24-29, 2010, and ransacked their homes. With the exception of Ms. Nian Dongmei, all of the practitioners were detained.

Qujing City Procuratorate prosecutor Xiao Yanfei and Long Minghui charged the seven practitioners with "Inciting people to usurp the power of the state" in August 2010. The Qujing City Intermediate People's Court put the seven practitioners on trial on October 15, and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from three to twelve years in November 2010. The trial was overseen by chief judge Gao Buqiang, judge Zhao Jundong, deputy judge Bai Hua, and clerk Zhang Rui.

Mr. Liu Gufang and Ms. Liang Guofen Given Long Terms

Mr. Liu Gufang and his wife, Ms. Liang Guofen, both 42, worked at the Luliang County Silk Factory. After they were laid off, they opened a jewelry store.

The Luliang County Police Department and Domestic Security Division detained the couple and ransacked their home and store on March 24, 2010. The police confiscated, among other things, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, Dafa books, Falun Gong truth-clarification materials, computers, printers, DVD recorders, and a paper cutter.

Mr. Liu was taken to the Luliang County Detention Center, and his wife to the Malong County Detention Center. Mr. Liu Gufang was sentenced to seven years and sent to the Yunnan Province First Prison, and his wife was sentenced to 12 years in the Yunnan Province Second Women's Prison.

Ms. Li Xiaomei Sentenced To Five Years in Prison

Ms. Li Xiaomei, 66, is a farmer. She was arrested by the Luliang County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division on March 4, 2010. Her home was ransacked and she was detained in Luliang County Detention Center. She was sentenced to a five-year prison term and sent to the Yunnan Second Women's Prison. She has since been released.

Ms. Tai Jiongxian Sentenced to Four Years and Given Unknown Drugs

Ms. Tai Jiongxian, 62, worked in a warehouse at the Zhongshu Town Enzyme Preparation Factory in Luliang County. She was arrested by about eight officers and agents from the Luliang County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division on the morning of March 26, 2010. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to the Zhanyi County Detention Center. She was released on bail on April 30, after one month of detention.

Ms. Tai was arrested again by the Luliang County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division on May 17, 2010, and taken to the Zhanyi County Detention Center. She was forced to do labor, producing mill foil and picking peppers.

She was put on trial with the others on October 15, 2010, and sentenced to four years in the Ninth Ward of the Yunnan Province Second Women's Prison. She was transferred to the Fourth Ward in November. She was forced to labor sewing purses.

Prison officials claimed that she had high blood pressure and forced her to take drugs three times a day, but refused to tell her what drug she was taking. After taking the drug, she had severe headaches and back pain, and she broke out in red pimples. She was released on April 2, 2013, but the Zhongshu Police Branch kept harassing her.

Mr. Peng Pingguo Sentenced to Four Years and Given Unknown Drugs

Mr. Peng Pingguo, 52, is a farmer from Majie Town. He was arrested at noon on March 26, 2010, when he was shopping in a market and taken to the Majie Police Station.

About four police officers took him to his home and ransacked it. He was then detained at the Luliang County Detention Center for one month. The notice of detention was signed by Zhang Shucai and Li Guixiang. He was released on bail on April 30, 2010.

Mr. Peng was first taken to the Majie Police Station and then to a hospital for a physical on May 17, 2010. He was then transferred to the Luliang County Detention Center and forced to produce bracelets and other jewelry. Since he had bad eyesight, he was unable to meet his quota, so the guards ordered inmates to beat him.

The Qujing City Intermediate People's Court sentenced him to a four-year prison term on October 15, 2010. He was taken to the Tenth Ward in the Yunnan Province First Prison on December 13.

The guards claimed that he had high blood pressure and injected him with an unknown drug daily for one month. He also was forced to take medication three times per day until he was released. He suffered severe headaches, dizziness, and swollen legs from taking the medication.

He was forced to sew clothing until May 4, 2011, the day he was released.

Ms. Yang Qiongguan Sentenced to Three Years

Ms. Yang Qiongguan, 67, is retired from the Luliang County Trading Company. Officers from the Luliang County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division took her to the Luliang County Detention Center on March 29, 2010. She was released on bail three days later.

Ms. Yang was sentenced to a three-year prison term, with five years of probation on October 15.

Ms. Nian Dongmei Sentenced to Three Years

Ms. Nian Dongmei, 73, is a retired teacher from the Chaihua Elementary School in Zhongshu Town, Luliang County. She was arrested on March 25, 2010, and released on bail that same day. The Qujing City Intermediate People's Court sentenced her to a three-year prison term with three years of probation.
