(Minghui.org) A Jianyang City Court tried Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jiang Suying, who is in her sixties, on April 8, 2014, but did not allow her friends or relatives to attend. When practitioner Mr. Xie Dongyun asked the court marshals why they couldn't attend the trial, he was arrested and hasn't been released.

According to an insider at the court, the police also arrested another practitioner outside the courthouse, and his whereabouts are unknown.

During the trial, the three judges did not identify themselves and ignored the defense lawyer’s eloquent plea for his client's acquittal. The court sentenced Ms. Jiang Suying to three and a half years in prison. She has appealed.

Ms. Jiang, a farmer, was staying in a small rental place near her original house because her house had been demolished and her farmland forcibly occupied. Ms. Jiang was illegally arrested by Jianyang City Domestic Security Division officer Luo Jiao and other officers on the night of September 22, 2013.

Family Not Informed of Ms. Jiang's Trial

The Jianyang Court decided to hold the trial for Ms. Jiang on April 8, 2014, but did not notify her family. When her husband showed up at the court on April 8 and asked to observe the proceedings, the judge was surprised and asked, "How did you learn we were having the trial today? Her husband told them that Ms. Jiang's lawyer had informed him. However the judge did not allow him to attend.

The defense lawyer even had trouble getting himself into the courtroom. The rest of the people were ordered to leave. Mr. Xie Dongyun from Jiajia Township, in his sixties, was one of them.

Arrested for Asking to Attend the Trial

Mr. Xie pointed out to the court marshals, “The law allows us to observe the court proceedings. Why won't you allow us to attend?” As a result, he was arrested. He was later detained in the Erehu Brainwashing Center in Ziyang City and has not been allowed to return home.

Mr. Xie has been persecuted many times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and thus has a difficult time making a living. CCP agents once came to his home and took 10,000 bags of dried mushrooms. He and his wife then had to work as housekeepers in Jianyang City. Despite their difficult circumstances, Mr. Xie and his wife found a child who was discarded by its parents at a hospital, and decided to raise the child themselves. After Mr. Xie was detained, his family's already difficult situation has become worse.
