(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Dafa in 2012. At the beginning, I kept wondering if I was truly a Falun Dafa disciple in this Fa-rectification period. I envied those fellow practitioners who were close to Master and who had attended Master's early lectures.
I asked myself if I had enough time to cultivate, since I had stepped onto the cultivation path just two years ago. I thought that my cultivation would take a great leap forward if I memorized the Fa and that I would upgrade my xinxing. However, it did not go well.
I later realized that I had the attachment of pursuit. I sent forth righteous thoughts to remove it. In the end it took me more than seven months to completely memorize Zhuan Falun , the main book of Falun Dafa.
Reading and Memorizing the Fa
Master has hinted several times that I should study the Fa diligently. I also learned from the Divine Culture program, which was broadcast by the Minghui radio station, how Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty studied when he was young.
He read one paragraph of a book 120 times and then recited it 120 times before he tackled the next paragraph. His attitude inspired me greatly. Emperor Kangxi was an ordinary person. As a Falun Dafa disciple, I should do better, especially when I am reciting the precious book Zhuan Falun . Although it was a major effort to read and recite each section 120 times, I was determined to give it a try. That was when I had just graduated from college and had plenty of time.
I planned to read 20 times daily and started with Lunyu , the preface to Zhuan Falun. I faced a lot of interference. I could only read it 10 times and had to take a nap at the beginning. But, I was able to read Lunyu 120 times in six days and recited it 120 times during the next six days.
I continued to use this system, reading and memorizing Zhuan Falun section by section, 120 times each section. It took me 12 days to read the first section, “Truly Guiding People Toward High Levels” 120 times and only four hours to memorize it completely. I thus tried to spend two hours a day in memorizing the Fa and my remaining time memorizing and reciting Master's poems and hand copying Zhuan Falun .
This approach worked well. I felt that the Fa was in my mind at all times. I wouldn't feel right if I did not recite the book correctly. I realized that it was not hard to recite the Fa as long as I was persistent, which I was.
My body responded noticeably while reciting the Fa. My peripheral nervous system quivered and tingled as a result of the circulation of energy. I felt the power of the words because it is Master's Fa. I feel my world vibrating whenever I recite the book.
I am no longer attached to a deadline by which I would have memorized the entire book. I let go of the notion that my cultivation level would improve from the Fa study. I no longer worry about running out of time. I immerse myself in the Fa calmly. I fully believe in Master and do what Master requires. I believe what Master gives us is the best.
Eliminating Attachments
I am like a small boat loaded with attachments that sailed out last and is struggling in the sea to catch up with the fleet Master is navigating. I try hard to jettison all attachments so that I can sail faster and follow Master home sooner.
As long as we cultivate by adhering to Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and look inwards to find our shortcomings, a magical treasure left to us by Master, we will eradicate dangers and not get off course.
Each fellow practitioner sails with the guidance of the Fa. We continuously remove tribulations. We seem to be doing the same thing every day, but we are always moving forward. During this voyage, some sail fast and some slow. Some may be knocked over by a storm, but climb back on board and continue. Of course, some will sink completely because of an overload of attachments.
I realize that we will reach the end if we do not give up. I enlightened that coming to an end in itself is actually cultivation. I will go forward courageously with full steam because I am a Falun Dafa disciple!
