Ms. Zhao Xiuying Threatened for Welcoming Friend’s Release from Prison

(Minghui.org) Practitioner Ms. Han Guirong was released from prison on February 24, 2014 after being illegally sentenced for practicing Falun Gong. Her best friend and fellow practitioner Ms. Zhao Xiuying waited outside the prison to welcome her. However, the Daqing City 610 Office became upset, and the office staff began to pressure Zhao Xiuying’s employer.

Ms. Zhao was constantly harassed for a month. Several managers at varying levels questioned her, and told her to give up Falun Gong. When Ms. Zhao refused, they even threatened to send her to a brainwashing center. The harassment negatively impacted Ms. Zhao's work and home life.

Han Guirong’s husband divorced her during her four-year prison term, and she could not contact her son. Police seized her home, so she has no home to return to. Ms. Zhao, her longtime friend, was concerned about Ms. Han after her release.

Prior to this, a number of practitioners in Daqing have been sent to the brainwashing center after their release from prison. Practitioners Zhang Xingye, Cao Jingdong, Feng Xikui, Liu Shufen and Wei Jun were all sent to the brainwashing center. Ms. Zhao was worried that Ms. Han might also be targeted.

Not knowing when Ms. Han would be released, Ms. Zhao Xiuying made several phone calls to find out the actual date. Her phone calls were recorded by Daqing City Domestic Security police. Based on this, the 610 Office claimed she was a “key organizer.” They lied, telling her company's management that Ms. Zhao raised banners and shouted slogans at the prison entrance.

Under great pressure, Ms. Zhao’s employer followed the 610 Office's and Domestic Security Police's instructions. They pressured Ms. Zhao to write a promise not to contact other practitioners. If she refused they said the police could come any day to arrest her and send her to the brainwashing center.

The company will have to pay at least 10,000 yuan to send an employee to the brainwashing center. The money is pocketed by the 610 Office and brainwashing center personnel.
