(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners Hu Zongzhi, Qiu Min, Liu Danmei, Liu Yanping and Xie Houmei were illegally tried in Xiling District Court in Yichang City, Hubei Province on February 19, 2014. The Chinese Communist Party officials are trying to extend their detention.
Monitored and Arrested
The Yichang police conducted a city-wide monitoring and the arbitrary arrests of Falun Dafa practitioners from September to December 2013.
Practitioners Hu Zongzhi and Qiu Min are both teachers at Sanxia University in Yichang City. Officers from the Domestic Security Division of Xiling Police Department and the security personnel of Sanxia University cut off the electricity, pried open the locks to their homes, and illegally arrested the practitioners on October 23, 2013. Their homes were also ransacked. They were being held at the Yichang No. 1 Detention Center.
Police chief Zhou Xiangdong and deputy chief Qiu Shilong led officers from the Domestic Security Division of Pinghu Police Department to arrest Ms. Xie Houmei on October 23, 2013. Ms. Xie's home was also ransacked. Ms. Xie has retired from working in the Management Division of Gezhouba Base Administration Office. She was held for 67 days at the Yichang No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. Wang Danfeng was arrested on the morning of November 15, 2013, by Zhou Xiangdong and Qiu Shilong. They tricked his wife into opening the door by claiming they were plumbers and needed to repair their leaking water pipes. When she opened the door, they rushed in and arrested Mr. Wang.
The Community Management Committee later told Mr. Wang's wife, “Zhou Xiangdong told us your family practices Falun Dafa and organizes Falun Dafa activities under the disguise of doing business. We have been informed to monitor you.”
Zhou Xiangdong also instructed the police to harass and monitor Mr. Wang's wife at the drugstore she owns. Other small business owners near the drugstore have also received similar instructions from Zhou.
Those Who Participated in the Arrests
The Domestic Security Divisions of Xiling Police Department; the Wujia Police Department and the Pinghu Police Department of Gezhouba City; the Yunji Police Station; the Yaowan Police Station; the Gulou Street Police Station; the Xiba Gezhouba Police Station; the Qiaohu Street Police Station; the Yemingzhu Police Station; the Zhenping Street Police Station; and the Dagong Bridge Police Station were all involved in the arrests.
