Practitioner Believed to Have Been Given Poisonous Drugs Dies Shortly After Release from Prison

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Zhengrong passed away on December 11, 2013, just a few months after she was released from Guangdong Women's Prison. Her death is believed to have been caused by injections of poisonous drugs.

Ms. Chen, in her 60s, was arrested on May 29, 2010. She had been incarcerated in Guangdong Women's Prison for more than three years and was released on September 28, 2013. She had needle marks on her arm and her family believes that she was injected with poisonous drugs prior to her release.

Falun Gong practitioners have reportedly been given poisonous drugs at this institution, and the victims suffer from long term side effects.

Arrested and Illegally Sentenced

Ms. Chen and her husband Mr. Dai are originally from Zunyi City in Guizhou Province. They moved to Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province to live with their daughter when they retired. Through practicing Falun Gong, the couple had a youthful appearance and remained healthy, though both were in their 60s.

Ms. Chen and Mr. Dai were arrested on May 29, 2010 while they distributed informational materials about Falun Gong and the persecution in the Buji Residential District, Longgang, Shenzhen.

Police officers from the Buji and Shangshuijing Police Station ransacked their home immediately after making the arrest. Their personal belongings, including a computer, a printer, and a DVD burner were confiscated.

The couple was later sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Chen was held at Guangdong Women's Prison until September 28, 2013. Her husband's term has also recently ended.

Poisonous Drugs Used at the Guangdong Women's Prison

Guangdong Women's Prison in the Baiyun District, Guangzhou City is notorious for using poisonous drugs in an attempt to force Falun Gong practitioners to be “transformed” and renounce their belief.

When Ms. Liu Mulan from Wuhan City arrived in January 2010, the prison guards mixed poisonous drugs into her food and forced her to take blood pressure medication. Her health declined rapidly within the first few months. She became emaciated, disorientated, and mentally unstable. She experienced auditory hallucinations, declined vision, blurred speech, and swelling in the feet.

Ms. Chen Xiaoyue had symptoms of Leukemia while she was held at Guangdong Women's Prison. She was given injections of poisonous drugs and a marrow sample was taken from her. After her release on March 18, 2011, she experienced pain in the chest and lower back, had severe headaches, and high fever.
