(Minghui.org) Mr. Yang Xiuming, 58 years old, died on February 6, 2014 as a result of the physical and mental abuse he suffered during a seven-year prison term for his belief in Falun Gong.
During his imprisonment, he was repeatedly subjected to torture and contracted dual tuberculosis, pleurisy, gastritis and coronary heart disease. Although he received medical treatment after his release, he never recovered.
Mr. Yang's most recent arrest was at his workplace on August 3, 2003, followed by an illegally sentence of seven years in prison. He was first imprisoned at the Yuping County Detention Center and then transferred to the Duyun Prison.
Mr. Yang was a state employee of the Xinhuang County Civil Affairs Bureau before being fired for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. In addition to the seven-year prison term, he was detained twice and subjected to 2 years of forced labor.
