Additional Persecution News from China – March 6, 2014 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 16 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Guangwei Persecuted

The Penglai City Procuratorate summoned Mr. Chen Guangwei, 77, on February 25, 2014, to his office, accusing him of breaking existing Chinese laws.

Mr. Chen was arrested at home by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Penglai City Police Department on March 6, 2012, and his printer and Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs were confiscated. He was released that evening and forced to leave home.

He was arrested again by officers from the Penglai City Social Insurance Department and Police Department on January 21, 2014, and taken to the Penglai City Detention Center. He was released because he did not pass the physical exam. Officers tried to extort money from Mr. Chen, but didn't succeed. His son later bailed him out.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhu Shuyun and Ms. Zhao, another elderly practitioner, were arrested at her home by Changchun City Domestic Security Division officers on March 4, 2014. They were taken to the Tiexi Police Station.

3. [Beijing] Seven Practitioners Arrested

Seven practitioners were arrested at their homes by officers from the Fangshan District Police Department in Beijing on February 26, 2014. Four of them were Mr. Zhang Wenlong and his wife Ms. Liu Chunhua, from Yangtougang Village in Chengguan Town, and Mr. Hu Qinggui and Ms. Li Hao who were visiting Mr. Zhang.

Three other practitioners were Ms. Wang Shuwen, Ms. Wang Yunhua, and Ms. Yang Qiuying.

Ms. Wang Shuwen, 70, was arrested by officers from the Fangshan District Domestic Security Division and the Guandao Police Station in Liangxiang Town. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, a picture of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, and a cell phone.

In addition, officers arrested Ms. Wang Yunhua and Ms. Yang Qiuying at their homes. They ransacked Ms. Yang's home.

Mr. Zhang, Ms. Liu, Mr. Hu, and Ms. Yang are being held at the Fangshan Detention Center. Ms. Wang Yunhua’s whereabouts are unknown. Ms. Wang Shuwen and Ms. Li were released.

4. [Jiyuan City, Henan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Dongling was arrested at home by a dozen officers from the Jiyuan City Police Department on the evening of February 28, 2014. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated her cell phone and some personal items. Later Ms. Chang Lihua, Ms. Li Yunhua, and Ms. Yin Libo were also arrested.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Shu Yu Arrested

Ms. Shu Yu was arrested because of being on a more than 10 year old wanted persons warrant.

6. [Xiapu County, Fujian Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Ye Biyu, Ms. Wei Shuyi, Ms. Li Meiying, and Mr. Chen Saixiong were arrested by officers from the Beibi Village Police Station on the morning of March 1, 2014, when they distributed 2014 Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. They were taken to and held at the Xiapu County Detention Center the next day. Ms. Ye was released on the evening of March 4, while the others are still in detention.

7. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Yulan Harassed

A dozen officers including Zhang Jianguo, director of the Sub-District Office, broke into Ms. Dong Yulan's home on February 13, 2014, tore down newly-posted spring festival couplets, and confiscated Falun Gong books.

8. [Anxin County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Minqiang Arrested

Mr. Wang Minqiang was arrested on March 2, 2014, for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong.

9. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Guo Lihua's Prison Term Extended

Ms. Guo Lihua, 49, was arrested by officers Cao Shanjun and Zhang Li, from the Kuiying Police Station on May 30, 2013. His term has been extended for about nine months.

He was held twice for a total of one month, and subjected to force labor twice for a total of three years. The current arrest accounts for his fifth arrest.

10. [Beijing] Ms. Yao Siping Detained

Ms. Yao Siping, 53, was arrested at home by officers from the Xicheng District Fusuijing Police Station on the evening of February 27, 2014. They confiscated her computer and Falun Gong books, and took her to the police station. She was later kept in criminal detention and is being held at the Xicheng District Police Department.

Ms. Yao's home was once ransacked by officers from the Fusuijing Police Station on February 29, 2005. She escaped but her then 76-year-old mother was arrested. She was sentenced to a two-year force labor term on March 28, 2007. Officers from the 610 Office ransacked her home again on the morning of October 29, 2012 and confiscated her computer.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Song Fengyuan Detained

Ms. Song Fengyuan, in her 70s, was arrested at home by officers from the Fengtai District Yuegezhuang Police Station on March 4, 2014. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated a lot of personal items. She is being held at the police station.

12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yu Kaixin's Home Ransacked

Mr. Yu Kaixin's home was ransacked on March 5, 2014.

13. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhao Jiayu Detained

It was recently confirmed that Ms. Zhao Jiayu, who has been missing for about a year, is being held at the Zouma Women's Prison in Chongqing.

14. [Luan County, Hebei Province] Mr. Ma Jingchuan's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Ma Jingchuan was arrested on his way to Tangshan City by officers from the Luan County Domestic Security Division on the morning of March 3, 2014, because traffic officers found Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in his car. His whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Yanshou County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. He Yazhen and Ms. Yin Guizhi Detained

Ms. He Yazhen, 70, and Ms. Yin Guizhi, in her 60s, were arrested on February 19, 2014, when they distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. They are being held at the Yanshou County Detention Center. The police extorted 2,000 yuan from their families.

16. [Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Xiao Jing Sentenced

Ms. Xiao Jing was arrested in June 2009 because she gave the director of the Yiwu City Police Department a Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She was later sentenced to three years in prison.

She was arrested again in March 2013 and sentenced to a four-year prison term.
