(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Guobo was arrested on February 27, 2009 by officers from the Weifang 610 Office in Shandong Province. He was held in Weifang and Changle detention centers for eight months. He was then sentenced to five years in prison by the Kuiwen District Court in Weifang and held in the Jinan Prison. He has been on hunger strikes to resist the persecution over the course of the last five years. He is due to be released on February 26, 2014.
Mr. Jiang Guobo was born in March 1963. He was an official in the Weifang Political and Judiciary. He had suffered from hepatorenal syndrome in the past. After he began cultivating Falun Gong, he regained good health. During the years when he worked as an official in the Political and Judiciary, he refused the many bribes typically offered to those in his position. He worked tirelessly for the villagers, drilling wells and repairing roads. He was highly respected.
Such a good official, deeply appreciated by local citizens, was arrested thirteen times. He was held and sent to labor camps three times because he practiced Falun Dafa. He was arrested for a 14th time in February of 2009 and sentenced to five years in prison.
Over the past five years, he was held in Weifang and Changle detention centers in Weifang. He was subjected to much torture, but never gave up his belief. He has been hunger striking for the last five years.
Jiang Guopo wrote a complaint against the Weifang Police Department, Kuiwen Court, Procuratorate and Jinan Prison for their crimes. He wrote 60,000 to 70,000 words in presenting the charges against the perpetrators. In an attempt to stop him from suing them, the police arrested his wife Zhou Ling and held her for over a month in Weifang Brainwashing Center.
While in prison, Jiang Guopo continuously clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to the guards and other inmates. He exposed crimes committed by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) against Falun Gong. Many of them came to understand the facts and withdrew from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Jiang Guopo's unshakable belief, kindness and forbearance impressed many guards and inmates. The past five years of brutal persecution has taken its toll on his health, and his family members anxiously await his safe return home.
Mr. Jiang's sentence expires on February 26, 2014. His family will gather at the prison door to take him home.
