Finding My Own Path

(Minghui.org) My wife had heart disease and vasculitis. It became so severe at the end of September 1998, that she could not get out of bed for more than two months.

Our daughter brought home a book, Zhuan Falun in mid-December and asked her mom to read it. She said, “reading the book may help you recover, mom.” My wife wasn't convinced and said, “If reading this book can help me recover from my illnesses, that would be wonderful!”

A miracle happened. After reading Zhuan Falun for three days, my wife began to walk. I was amazed. The book literally saved her life!

Before long, I also began to practice Falun Gong.

Cultivating on My Own

My wife and I ran a small retail shop, and running the business consumed most of our time. In our spare time, we studied the Fa and practiced the exercises. One day in 2008, my wife was illegally arrested and sent to a forced labor camp for a year.

It felt like the sky was falling on me. In the past, I followed her in everything in cultivation, including Fa study, exercises and truth clarification. What should I do now?

After soul searching, I recalled Master’s teaching.

Master told us

“The paths of cultivation are variedBut none is outside the Great LawWhen one is attached to nothingThe path underfoot is naturally smooth”(“Unimpeded” in Hong Yin Vol. II)

I decided to begin to cultivate on my own.

Clarifying the Truth

I decided to close my business and devote myself to cultivation. When I went to a morning market and saw the crowd, I thought: I should help awaken them, since I'm a practitioner.

I began to speak to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution. That morning, I was able to convince three people to sever their associations with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliations.

The next day, I woke up at 3:50 a.m. and did the exercises for two hours. I then began to send forth righteous thoughts at 5:55 a.m. Afterward I read one to two lectures in Zhuan Falun. This became my daily routine. As I read the Fa, I gained a deeper understanding of Master’s teachings, and I could feel that I was improving.

Some days I could persuade almost 30 people to quit the Party. On slow days, I could help about 10 people. By the time my wife came home from the labor camp on April 23, 2009, I had helped 2,450 people to denounce their association with the CCP.

In the past few years, I met people with various backgrounds. During the process I was able to let go of many attachments, including fear.

Cultivation Stories

One day I had a chance to talk to a villager. I told him about the CCP's past political campaigns: the Cultural Revolution, and the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and that 80 million Chinese people perished in those movements. I also told him how the CCP even kills Falun Gong practitioners for their vital organs for profit.

After talking with him for over an hour, I answered all his questions. He was totally convinced that Falun Gong is righteous. He said, “I feel so good after listening to you. I'm very delighted.”

In another village, a man in his 40’s invited me to his house. Even though we'd never met, he felt he knew me. I began to tell him and his mother about the CCP’s crimes. After carefully listening, the mother and son both agreed to denounce their association with the CCP. They repeatedly thanked me for telling them the truth.

On another occasion, I convinced two men in their 50’s to quit the Communist organizations. They both told me that they would love to read Zhuan Falun.

I also had some unpleasant encounters. Some people have cursed at me or tried to assault me. One day I met a man in his 60’s who was apparently brainwashed by the Party. When I told him about the Party’s crimes, he challenged what I said, and asked, “Are you retired? The Party sends you a pension, right? How much does Falun Gong pay you to do this?”

I answered, “Yes, I am retired. I earned my pension, and the Party is not giving me any money.” I also told him that Falun Gong practitioners pay for print the informational flyers. After a while, he was convinced and agreed to quit his Party affiliations.

Master’s compassionate protection and the help of fellow practitioners has allowed me to continue my cultivation throughout all these years. I will redouble my efforts in the future to study the Fa, do the three things well, and awaken more people.
