(Minghui.org) In my analysis below, I'm using the Six Sigma process as a metaphor, because its intent can be used by practitioners to succeed in their many projects. Many of our readers may not have heard of the Six Sigma process. Therefore, a definition is in order:
The Six Sigma process is a technique with associated tools that are used to improve the manufacturing process. Six Sigma seeks to identify and eliminate errors and defects and produce a near perfect product. Only a perfect production process, free from defects, is capable of creating a flawless product.
When I first learned about Six Sigma, I had an image in my mind – a Westerner sitting in front of a desk, carefully examining the object in his hands. He/she was wondering how to improve the product until it reached perfection. If I were a customer, I would definitely trust this individual's work and buy his product.
Getting the Task Done Quickly
The attitude described above should be a must in our society. However, it is hard to achieve this state of mind. I often feel restless and want to finish the task quickly and in the most efficient way.
I have been looking for quick and effective ways to help people understand the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I have participated in many Dafa projects, such as using SMS (short message service), MMS (multimedia messaging service), and recorded voice messages to tell people about Falun Dafa. I thought that by joining the latest project that used the most updated technology was keeping up with the Fa-rectification process.
Given my attitude, I neglected the big picture, and failed to do things according to my capabilities. I realized later that my mind was heavily influenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) indoctrination. Therefore I behaved in a restless, shallow, and competitive way, and was eager to seek results. I didn't truly understand the inner meanings of the Fa, and thus held human notions that impeded the results I wanted to achieve.
Incorrect Mentality
I'd like to share a passage from an earlier Minghui article, “Why Truth-Clarifying Materials are Thrown Away.”
“Some truth-clarifying materials are very good, but still not perfect, as the mentality when producing it is not up to par. If every one of us can seize the opportunity and treat this as cultivation, it will make up for deficiencies in other regards. If everyone can reach the state of a pure heart, that will genuinely form one body, and the truth-clarifying materials will play a better role in saving more people.”
Producing truth-clarification materials, which include writing, editing, production and distribution, is based on how we have elevated during our cultivation. When we make materials with righteous thoughts and pure hearts, we are then producing perfect “products” that can awaken sentient beings. Isn't this process similar to that of Six Sigma? Once we minimize the defects in every step of the production process, we can achieve the best results.
Staying Grounded
Every Dafa project is capable of helping people to understand the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution, because each project is a manifestation of our intentions. Sentient beings will be awakened when we truly put our hearts into what we are doing, and when our intentions are pure and based on the principles of Falun Dafa. If that were not the case, then no matter how many projects we are involved in, we wouldn't be able to awaken people.
We should not chase after all kinds of projects, and should simply do the best according to our capabilities. When we pour our righteous energy into our work, perhaps a flier, a beautiful DVD cover, or a simple and pure sentence will then truly accomplish what we have set out to do.
Staying focused is powerful. I hope that those who have restless minds can calm down and stay grounded. Regardless of the project we are involved in, whether we distribute materials or talk to people about Falun Dafa, we need to think about how we can raise the quality of each step of the process, elevate our moral character, strengthen our righteous thoughts, and pour that energy and compassionate message into the project. I believe this is the most effective way to help awaken sentient beings.
