(Minghui.org) My second younger brother remarried in the fall of 2007, a few years after his first wife passed away. We learned later that his new wife is a Falun Gong practitioner.

Bury the Hatchet

This brother of mine hadn't spoken to his kin, including us siblings and our mother who is now in her 90s, for years. Even mediation from our relatives failed to mend the broken relationships. After all, the grudges and resentment built up over time were hard to remove overnight.

Since this practitioner joined our big family, the situation changed surprisingly.

She told my brother stories of traditional Chinese culture and advised him to deliver New Year’s greetings to his mother. The visit finally broke down the years-long barrier between mother and son.

My brother used to tell his wife, “Our family's historical conflicts are none of your business!” As a practitioner who lives according to the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she did not think so and never stopped trying to encourage him to make amends.

My brother accepted his wife’s kindly advice little by little. He even attended my mother’s birthday party for the first time in many years.

On May 2, 2010, our mother invited my youngest brother and his wife to attend her daughter's wedding. Years of former grudges were thus forgotten, and cordial and affectionate family relationships resumed. The neighborhood praised her generosity and thoughtfulness, “Look! A practitioner is different than others! ” I have seen for myself the positive role this Falun Gong sister-in-law plays in my family.

My second younger brother had not taken care of our over 90-year-old mother for a single day. Yet, shortly after her marriage, my Falun Gong sister-in-law told me that the couple would like to do their share in looking after our elderly mother.

“Does my second younger brother agree with this?” I asked.

She replied, “No problem! As a Falun Gong practitioner, I bring the beauty of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance wherever I go.”

The couple and I visited my mother's home two days before the New Year and told my eldest sister-in-law their intention. She started talking about past conflicts and was concerned. My Falun Gong sister-in-law replied, “Let's start over and forget about the old grudges. Let's tolerate and think positively about one another.”

I thought to myself, “Nowadays everyone seeks nothing but profit. Nobody 'fights' for taking care of the elderly! Only a Falun Gong practitioner does that.”

A Good Daughter-in-law Is Precious

The Falun Gong sister-in-law took my mother home soon. She started by washing her bedding clean and helped her change into clean clothes. She also cooked meals based on my mother's wants and needs.

Moreover, she shampooed my mother's hair, cut her nails and bathed her in the summer. When she was washing underpants for my old mother, the old woman was moved to tears, “My two daughters have never done this for me!”

To my mother's delight, my second young brother changed, too. He treated our mother sweetly. My mother said, “I have such a good daughter-in-law. I am exceedingly grateful! ”

Then the daughter-in-law replied, “My Master teaches his disciples to be nice to everyone.” My mother then asked, “Who is your Master?” She answered, “He is Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Gong. He teaches us how to behave according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

“Oh! I see. That is why you are so nice!” my mother said.

Since then, my mother has been praising her daughter-in-law in public: “I have an amazing daughter-in-law! She is a Falun Gong practitioner!”

Our whole family would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude towards Master Li for teaching such a good student, my sister-in-law.
